The grumpy thread

Recommended Posts

Well, the typical manifestation of 'offence' these days is someone (usually white and middle class, it has to be said) finding some everyday triviality to be offended by, like a slogan on a kids jumper in Asda or gender specific toilets or something.  Create some tenuous claim that whatever it is is offensive or discriminatory towards men\women\gays\trans\blacks\whites\browns\muslims\jews\disabled\some other protected group to which they don't belong.  Go off to post it on social media to 'raise awareness' - but what they're actually doing is raising awareness of themselves, hey look at me reaffirming my non-racist\sexist credentials, give me some likes and shares.

Virtue signalling is people loving to wax lyrical about how anti bad things they are.  I'm anti-fascist, i'm anti-racist, i'm anti-discrimination - So what? Being anti these things is the fucking default for any normal reasonable person.   For examples of this behaviour see the comments section of any major news\media company.

Spot on.

When is it okay to be offended? Is it ever okay to be offended? It'd be good to get an idea from Captain Self-righteous.

I think the most 'offended' people are often the ones who have perceived that someone else is offended about something they think is trivial and live in an endless cycle of outrage.

Being offended is fine, everybody gets offended, be offended whenever you want.

Thing is that it really doesn't matter. People confuse being offended with being discriminated against, something that does matter. The "Grumpy Old Man" thread may be considered offensive to some, although as it is perfectly acceptable for people of any age, gender, sexuality, political persuasion etc to post in it it really doesn't matter in any way.

I am horrified.....Fadeno is the Afrihilic word for a lady's front bottom.   We might be grumpy, but we are not all Fadenos.

So we are all agreed then, the thread should be renamed The mildly miffed, non-ageist, non-gender determined thread

Fuck off !

I hope the current thread title stays, it couldn't be improved.

People not paying up on roffles, irritating when you know they have read both of the messages sent before the Roffle but don’t even bother responding, not even a change of mind and ask to be removed. 99.9% of people on here are brilliant, shame about the 0.1% as always.

D. Spares was offended by the title, so it was changed at his request.

Getting stressed because other people are too easily offended is one thing, but then everyone has an opinion and the tri-monthly ‘let’s find to something to kick off about’ train departs the station. Again.

Regarding Roffles then if you get a non-payer please let one of us know by pm.

It’d be a shame if they get spoilt by a minute minority.

My Mum's just broken a bone in her pelvis...............

Ouch!

I thought that was all one bone though?

My uncle died at the weekend :( I didn't know him well but he was my dad's older brother so he's not taking it brilliantly.

Great idea.

Make the thread title effectively meaningless, that way it won't offend any poor wee lambs.

I hate to be the one to point out that you're missing quite an obvious message from your wife here...

Lets prove we can make more noise?

I have no idea WTF is going on with this thread at the moment, but can I just say that changing the thread title to Esperanto is genius.

I'm offended it's in some form of code for which I don't have the cypher.

Also, as a potential Aga owner, I'm offended that this thread won't be for me if I purchase one. That's discrimination that is!

I am offended because you have offended yourself. I'm telling the Daily Mail, so all the other people who like to be offended on behalf of others can be offended as well.

I'm definitely offended by the Daily Mail, mostly by its continued insistence on peddling shite. Do I win a prize? Everyone should get prizes, even if they haven't been offended.

Are we all being called a bunch of grumpy old cunts in furrin? I'd be offended but it's pretty accurate.

Really?

what about the other couple of hundred members who have not been 'offended'?

Its a fucking joke if I'm being honest, some folk really need to grow a pair and stop pandering to the whinging minority, what is wrong with saying 'hang on, no-one else cares, you can't be serious?'

It was the same with the stupid question amnesty thread :(

Or do I need a whoosh parrot?

Clearly a lot of people who say they don't care, do care, as they are posting in this thread.

We haven't had an anti establishment/I'm calling everyone who appears to be less manly and resilient than me a snowflake/dogma type of implosion for quite some time so I guess it's brewing. That's what I care about as it spoils it for others.

Thankyou. It has been upsetting me for a while. Have been a bit tearful about it if I'm honest

I are confused, this is supposed to be a grumpy thread, but I can't stop laughing.

I don't know if this means I am grumpy or offensive or offended.

I don't know what anything means anymore.

Preach! on the hand-driers!

My grump, is becoming an annual thang, together with the early poppies (look at me, LOOK at me and see HOW MUCH more RESPECTFUL I AM because I put my poppy on first. HA. Virtue, virtue).

Black.

Friday.

IT ISN'T A THING HERE!

Nor should it be something to aspire to.

Saw my first "get ready for the amazing deals" advert today.

We don't have black Friday! Stop this nonsense!

Ahh Haaa... Poppy N#zis they were being called last year (looking at you BBC!)

*N#zi... Everyone gunna jump on the 'don't stifle free speech = we can say NAZI if we like!' wagon

*except Germany
