OMG Lacquer Peel!

I love these tourers- they have zero air of lifestyle about them which is weird, but most welcome.

I still reckon I’d have gone for the free BX - as much as I love these.

ohh nice!

for some reason  you dont really see that many rover estates from this time period, so its neat to see one :)

'Tis the Autoshite way to buy a minging example of what was once a fine looking car.

Well bought Doc. Tell us you're going to spray the new bumper matt black, please!

It's slow...that front end shunt hasn't buggered the intercooler has it?

I wouldn't know, how would I tell?

I might not bother fitting it at all.

Biggest clue would be hissing noises and/or black smoke under load.

Actually taking a look should be pretty informative... it's basically just a radiator at the end of the day.  Damage from that sort of impact should be pretty obvious.

I needed a daily I'm afraid, so a project was out of the question. This has a year's test, so no immediate worries. (touch wood. Oh crap, hope that wood has been disinfected!)

Looking at that picture I'm guessing the number plate screws go into the bumper bar behind. If undone that bumper might pop out as is.

If indeed it is so equipped. A lot of the PSA stuff had a top mount inter cooler.

I'm *reasonably* sure it's a vertical one to the offside of the rad on these...but it is 15+ years since I last serviced one!

3rd gear at 50?

Nice purchase. I liked your 218 as well, looked a fun project. This looks a good candidate for a funky paint job - dazzle camouflage?

Chuck a boost gauge on it, turn up the fuel pump and bleed valve the turbo wastegate. ?

As an added bonus the gauge will tell you if it's losing boost pressure out of any possible intercooler damage.

Nice rack.

I've bashed my head on it twice, it has to go.

Do you know anyone who wants the wheel trims?

I love the looks of the Rover 400 Tourer, but had to take the roof rack off!

@catsinthewelder might want the trims for the 220 bike. I fixed the broken one using an inner ring from a Clio wheel trim during my brief tenure but spares might be handy.

At least the front bumper is super easy to remove on these.  As a car to just use and be practical, it's a pretty good choice.   Best of all, no need to worry about tarting it up.  Hope it looks after you.

I've taken it down to the local hand wash place but I only got the interior done, no point spending money on the outside.

Here's a couple of 'arty' shots...
