In reality I agree, mine were work horses when I started owning them in 2002 but now pets.

If all I did was blez around B roads, worked locally, rare longer journey etc I would, but I need something motorway friendly, the zx is about as low as I would go. Was 3 up and packed last week and had to rag it around way more to get the speed up

That Visa auction is not far from me, but I don't want it because it isn't a two cylinder and I'm done with buying another four cylinder anything.

You should work out which of your visas is the most comparable to my zx, and we go play with it and mine, then the diesel one and @Mrs6Cs derv.

Drag race Oxford services to Beaconsfield services! We could bolt a go pro to @hairnet s head and film it.

(I've been in a mates Saab 9000 with the big engine when we were 17 and he was 19 and his dad let him borrow it and done that journey in a silly short time...)

Until my Visa GT is ready for the road in a year or so I have nothing to compete with 75 bhp!

I've got 10 minutes in my head but it was a long time ago.

I remember when my best mate got a 4l jeep cherokee (fuck knows how) we left Witney at 10. 30pm and got parked up and to the antelope in Wycombe before they started charging...

If @gnomeot reads this he'll have a boasty tale of his volvo and 3am once too...

Autoshite time trials, where the fun still stays the right side of the law! Bet Chris would still beat my ass from his to aylesbury even with a 998cc visa... Can't beat years of road knowledge

This has to be a very rare one

Anyone going to this auction or nearby?

This Visa fetched 500 quid at the auction.

Its new owner, Gary Rowe, has pitched up on the CCC Farcebook page asking what it's worth as he intends to turn a fast buck!

Yeah, I was just going to post that.

The eejit really walked into the lions' den; if there's one thing the CCC can't countenance, it's a flipper.

Looks like it’s worth £450 then!
Obviously including delivery.....

Honestly, does he not think other Citroen fiddlers look at that website, I mean it’s only the main classic one apart from EBay.

Nowt wrong with that IMO, done it myself before on some cars, but I think the point is  he ain't gonna make any money. He's made a bad call on how much he thinks they're worth.

But it’s one of only two left!!

Obviously that puts it in the same investment league as Ferrari GTOs, Aston DB5s etc

Like all good jokes, this one could go round faster than he can keep up. And any offers he gets may go progressively lower as everyone knows what he paid for it....

I saw this myself this morning on the CCC page. I had to add my two pence worth about my own low value Visa.

They were rare for a reason. No offence to Citroen fans, but meh.

exactly this though. I am a citroen fan but I fully realise that they didn't sell in huge numbers for a reason, always was a limited market. Its an even more limited market now.

Some people seem to think classic car of any flavour is worth money and will have people queing up for it. They are wrong.

The Citroën Visa was built from 1978 to 1988 in petrol and diesel variants - 1,254,390 were made.

The van variant, the C15, was built from 1984 and when finally discontinued in 2005, production had reached 1,181,471.

So not such a bad seller. It was up against stiff competition in the UK which may be the reason it was not so big here.

Plenty of C15 vans about but you are right few cars survive but it has been out of production more than 30 years. Plenty of cars still for sale in France.

The vans are still very usable with the big 1.8 diesel. Go very well.

Agree about the C15 vans, hugely popular and hugely practical.

Think about the cars though 1.3 million, worldwide. How many of those came to the UK? if you are really pushing it maybe 200,000. Attrition rate on old rusty low spec cars is always huge. Know how many Visa's are currently on the road with the DVLA records?  Around about 30 I believe from the Visa forum info. So, the people that actually want them have them, even though they are rare they do not generally command high prices, even the GTI's etc are not particulary high and you simply cant find Chrono's or mille piste models. The rest are bum basic 652cc-1.4's.

Limited appeal and depressed selling prices and a dreadful spares availability (and im someone who really likes them)

I think it's ok to flip as well if that's how he gets his kicks, but at least drag it home, give it a deep clean and a quick service and then white room the thing.  It's the laziness of just buying to sell that's a bit sad.

I don't think he's saying he won't do that, he was just asking where was the best place to sell it and everyone launched into him. He might be giving it the full works before listing it for all we know, or like you say he might be the laziest seller ever. He'll probably scrap the fecker now out of spite.

I actually think, reading that facebook post, Gary was even handedly dealt with and seemed to take on board the situation. There was another chap on there who basically kept banging on that people should just pay way more than a cars worth and then spend through the nose on restoration just for the sake of 'having it' - he was deluded.
