320touring Posted November 24, 2019 Author Posted November 24, 2019 Took it along to a tartan tarmac meet this morning.. The 335 was in distinguished company ( but holding its own in the "Admiring Glances" stakes. Cavcraft, Tickman, Lacquer Peel and 1 other 4
DVee8 Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 I saw a similar touring in Kirkcudbright yesterday.
320touring Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 Time for an update on this: We are now 1500 miles into ownership, at an average of 29.5 mpg over the last 5 tanks. Totals so far: Purchase £300 Fuel £322 Service/repairs £0 Business allowance (income) -£44 Total £588, or 40p per mile. Took it over the backroads from Kippen today as m80 was fucked. For context, this is a sinewy technical and tight B Road with poor surfaces and sheer drops. It's no sports car, not even an SUV but I still managed to knock 6 mins off the 41 predicted by google. Climbing hills was ok, but coming down was fun* trying to stop 2.25t from 60* skattrd, The Moog, beko1987 and 4 others 6 1
skattrd Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I think we need to have a drag race with this and the cheap jeep. If I start saving for the fuel to Crail I might have enough saved up by Easter 320touring, chaseracer, Jim Bell and 1 other 4

You're likely 40bhp up, and 500kg down skattrd and dome 2
skattrd Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Damn, my cunning* plan foiled. We need to do another Crail bash at some point though. 320touring and Jim Bell 2
320touring Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 This was parked round at the sports pavilion near my house yesterday. I went out to it this morning to head to Tartan Tarmac. Was greeted by this sight: So now I need to work out what I want to do.. Fix it Sell it Fix it and sell it. Mrs6C, Tepper, Split_Pin and 7 others 1 9
Matty Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 How much test on? Straight join it to replace the (I assume) stolen cat and worry about it later. Bad luck pal 320touring 1
Jim Bell Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 FFS. This is why we can't have anything nice. 320touring, Cavcraft, UltraWomble and 1 other 4

hairnet Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 straight pipe till mot then decide light fingered coonts
captain_70s Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Well. That's wank. I'm assuming a new cat is more than you paid for the car in the first place...
Spottedlaurel Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Sorry to see that. Also a big issue with Prius and Lexus RX at present.
somewhatfoolish Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Is this age of vehicle checked with a probe(ooh er) up the pipe? Or would a Happy Dragon No5 Exhaust Manufactury generic catalyst-shaped device work to pull the wool* over the average tester's eyes?
wuvvum Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 It'd be checked with a probe, but the limits are far more relaxed than they would be for a later car. The similarly-aged Rover 45 I had went straight through the emissions with a missing cat - it still failed, but only because the cat was visibly absent (straight pipe). If there'd been something on there that looked more cat-shaped it would have passed.

Kiltox Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 The fuck was it worth stealing for if it’s only £80 to replace?!

Cavcraft Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Horrible, thieving no good rotten bastards, I hope a nasty fait awaits them one day. Straight pipe probs best, would suggest a hollow cat but some prick would probably cut that off too. jaypee 1
Spurious Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Was common enough in Ireland for a while especially with 4wds with enough ground clearance to just roll under. Scabby fuckers, hope they loose an eye the next time they angle grind a cat out. stonedagain 1
320touring Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 Seems I may need a couple of feet of pipe and possibly a way to angle it.. With have more of a look when at unit tomorrow..
big_al_granvia Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 flat4 says pop down to jim dickson's in cumbernauld village, might be able to bend a bit of pipe for you to slide over the ends with some gunk... i know raceworkx in livingston can bend and fabricate anything and their master tech george is a mate... or see steve mccall at burnett motorsport in mollinsburn... piss easy with a pipe bender to fabricate Mrs6C, eddyramrod, Kiltox and 1 other 4
Lankytim Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I’ve noticed a few ads popping up on Facebook by people buying cats for cash, there must be loads going missing at the moment.

Genuine ones weigh in nicely because they contain a large amount of the correct high value metal that does the catylitic job (name escapes me). Cheap pattern ones are full of bum fluff and malteasers ? stonedagain, BlankFrank and sutty2006 3
