SiC Posted October 13, 2025 Posted October 13, 2025 When I looked through the mail server logs last night, it was saying it couldn't resolve the address of the gmail.com email server and that it didn't exist. Obviously that was bollocks. Config wise it looked all okay and the mail server user account could resolve it properly. I tried a test email and that came through just fine to my Gmail and yahoo accounts. So decided to do the ol' turn it off/on again by restarting the mail server. This seemed to fixed it and the email queue was flushed through. Which is what you would have all seen yesterday evening. Not sure why the resolver was playing silly buggers all of a sudden. Can only think it might have not restarted properly or in the right order after a software update. At the moment I have it auto restarting on updates. Not usually something you usually want on a production server but I've set it up to be fairly independent just in case something happens to me and if it took a few weeks for a handover. It set to restart overnight so given this is a predominantly UK site, it's unlikely to impact anyone. Gotta love software. Zie, Remspoor, myglaren and 2 others 4 1
Zelandeth Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 Anyone else finding image loading incredibly slow today or is that a local problem at my end? Only seems to be here that's affected though and speed test isn't showing anything odd - across both mobile and desktop so it's nothing browser specific.
myglaren Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 I am finding most sites to be slow and jerky.
St.Jude Posted November 6, 2025 Posted November 6, 2025 The site seems to be really struggling today. Thought it was my phone but it's equally sluggish on the laptop.

St.Jude Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Glad it’s back. There was a good 3 hours there where I was forced to work because I couldn’t log on to here. rusty_vw_man, JakeT, N19 and 1 other 1 3

SiC Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Was it this error? Unfortunately not one I could do a lot about and something that affected quite a lot of the internet world. So many sites have Cloudflare between them and the general world, it buggers a lot up. St.Jude and richardmorris 2

One or two of my sites were affected, but it didn’t matter. Was a good test for what could go wrong, so I’m reviewing that. A friend wasn’t so lucky. All his sites went down like Autoshite, and as Cloudflare itself was banjaxed he couldn’t login and do anything to point them elsewhere. Its a monumental flamingo up.* *like a cock up, but bigger myglaren and richardmorris 1 1

I think you mean Dave before seven Nah Dave Numbers could fix everything. He would have driven down to the Paris data centre that AS is hosted at with a reel of fibre and driven along hanging his arm out of the window, till he could get to Level3 DC to then hook it directly into a major backbone. loserone, andrew e, LightBulbFun and 5 others 5 3

TBF I didn't even try the Cloudflare site to see if I could do anything... I was too busy (literally) bouncing down the runway in this thing that I'm trying to learn how to not crash land. Also check out the aerodromes fire truck! Anyway I basically figured by the time I could do anything to bypass Cloudflare, it probably would have been fixed anyway given how critical Cloudflare is to much of the internet that makes money and be moaning the loudest. myglaren, loserone, Tickman and 11 others 13 1
High Jetter Posted November 18, 2025 Posted November 18, 2025 Once I saw Cloudflare from this, and some other sites, I slacked off and went to the pub 😀
Dave_Q Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 Mobile browser on android, when uploading screenshots they upload as a black rectangle. Can get it to work by removing the pictures and trying again several times but it's annoying. I think @UltraWomble mentioned the same, we happen to use the same phone (Xiaomi spyware deluxe Poco X7) Anything that can be done, or probably a me not you problem? UltraWomble 1
Emootikoah Posted December 16, 2025 Posted December 16, 2025 Unsure if this is the correct place to ask, but is there an existing thread for car audio systems and maybe retro face off stereos etc? Cheers!
Split_Pin Posted December 22, 2025 Posted December 22, 2025 Given the recent Cloudflare crap-out earlier this year, thought this migth be appropriate. Dave_Q, Dyslexic Viking and High Jetter 3
bunglebus Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Am I the only one having weird things go on with my notifications? If I get a "such and such quoted you" or whatever, and I click on it, it takes me to the right thread, but the wrong place - often the post above mine
