Just why would anyone buy that. You’d be very lucky to spend less than £20k to get that anything like right. A painter I know that does top quality jobs reckons you’d be looking at 2/3 of that alone on a quality paint job. It’s just scrap that needs throwing away.

Late 80s early 90s When these were bangers the breakers I worked at ( most others too) we couldn't give stuff away for BL ( except minis) especially marina, maxis, Princess we used to take battery, rad & tyres off & weighed straight in, triumphs  used to fair a bit better ( mainly 1.3-1.5 dolomites)  , foreign stuff Datsuns  ,golfs, R12  . R5 was a complete pain to work on so people didn't bother Italian were more rotton than the average politician.

Ford cortina, escort, transit, Vauxhall viva,chevette,MK1 cavalier,CF were the revenue earners .

People rarely had a second car & ones as toys were even rarer.

Luxury marques Jag, BMW,Merc etc were just that any seen in working class areas would be on their last legs in hands of spivs, middle aged ones were landlords, car dealer types,4x4 ment land rover which ment farmer range rover ment land owners.

Things didn't start to change until mid 90s, I love the rose tinted idea that people have of life back then especially the one the media portrays .

I hope you also removed the brake calipers from those Princesses before weighing them in, they were always sought after

I wish I had time for such a project. £3k is a megabarg for such class. Finish one to potter about in, park the other on the patio just to look at.

Have they gone up 250 quid already?

Someone got a bargain on that super clean Tigra a few pages back. Blue, new test, 30k. Bidding just ended at £930.

Really? Those 4 pot calipers were a popular upgrade for a mk1/2 escort and many others back in the day

They were indeed but I think after the cars were current, hence too late for the Princesses being scrapped.

Interesting tyre mix (fore and aft).

LHD TR8 might be interesting but not at £5,500 ?

I didn't expect to ever see a Merkur Scorpio in the UK. If its relatively rust free (rear arches appear to be) it might even be worth what he's asking for it (unfortunately).

£350 escort estate with MOT till September but gets a bit hot.

My L reg non-estate 1300 version was a horrible thing at 3 years old when I bought it. I thought I was doing the right thing buying nearly* new. On a bloody 3 year loan. Gutless and fuel heavy, generally horrible. I should have spent a few quid keeping my C reg Mazda 323 in gold (it looked beige) running. It was a lot more refined and better on petrol. I was young and knew no better.

Another one to just park on the patio .

That’s been for sale for a long time now. Given they can’t be bothered to write a decent description they’ll probably still have it for a while. No mention of the chassis condition is a red flag
