Absolutely gutted I seemed to have missed out on a Justy of that era that I can afford without worrying about acres of rust, so many of them formed childhood car memories along side other 90s Subarus. Oh well.

Mk5 Ford Cortina 2.0 Ghia Auto - Picture 3 of 24

Mk5 Ford Cortina 2.0 Ghia Auto | eBay

Not quite as nice as the Capri, but a black Cortina Ghia is the absolute bollocks.

'Totally standard and not messed around with'

The dark tinted rear windows (and the spare wheel 'holder') don't look very factory, but it's till a proper nice looing car.

been a while since I seen a flash lube valve saver, also piping the LPG feed into the air filter is a very bad idea if/when it backfires back through the carburettor 😳probably explains why it’s leaning out at high speed

Remember a mate had a carbed one ( smallest twin choke I've ever seen) went pretty well, had a sticker on back that said " when I grow up, I want to be an Impreza"

Would it be straightforward to remove the whole LPG install?

Yeah should be, look's a very simple system with a manual changeover ie start from cold on petrol then a switch operated by the driver to turn the gas solenoid on and another switch to turn off the electric petrol pump (at a guess)

tanks most likely in the spare wheel well in the boot and the main thing under the bonnet is the vaporiser (round thing next to the screen wash bottle) that’s piped directly into the air filter box via a manual mixer so should be easy enough to strip out

Is there a different way though? You're piping LPG into a carburetor on venturi systems, so it has to get there somehow.

Seller's description

Engine starts and runs well. This car has been in dry storage since 2006 so it needs an overhaul. It's pretty tidy so would be a worthwhile project . It was parked up due to a snapped heater hose. The brakes were never seized but they are sticky and would need work.

Gas ring under the carb maybe ? That’s how the single point worked on my Jeep, that was a throttle body but the same principle

I’m no LPG expert, but all the carb setups I’ve ever seen use either a mixer plate that goes on the carb (as i have on my Florida now) that look something like this in practice

or have a carb tapped and LPG directly fed in there (which was the case on the previous carb on my Florida)

Posh Felicia in completely the wrong section on eBay.  Not particularly cheap either.

I'd say that's actually a good price for an L&K.

A rusty, non-running Rolls Royce with what looks like a Harley Davidson air filter and 'Been told it needs some new fuses' parked next to an Iv*co.
