You got me a-wonderin' there too.
I had a morning GoogleFoo and found the AROnline bit about the car. Reckons only mega changes to the Metro shell were at the back end. Also says the Rover 100 convertibles had  powered roof (I never knew that).
Typical ARO site though - a quick squint turns into a twenty minute read though article after article - I ended up reading the MGF bit (yet again)

There's another here at £9995 and 'not to be confused with the 1.1 version' that seems to have never existed anyway.

and, would you believe it, another. This one at a more sensible asking price too.

I'd rather imagine the looks of awe and delight as you backed into that river, M8.

£4,000 from a dealer on a 29,500 mile car does look reasonable. Clean MOT last year at 29,345 miles too.
And - checkout the genuine mud flaps - they're not my cup of tea tbh but this one does look very, very nice if it is.

I get the same message unfortunately but thanks, I've now found it on the BCA website though 👍

ok cool. Its on a private group so if you not joined that you won't see it but guess if you have on BCA its even better!

That in itself is mental, the effort of tooling up a factory in a different location, for maybe 12-18 months production... Yes they had the tooling but it had to be relocated and set up again and probably trialled before full volume.

There were some seriously suspect big calls made at this time including changing the Princess into Ambassador for a similarly short production run. Was the Ambassador sold overseas?

That's nothing compared to the TR7... Built at Speke from 1975 - 1978, Canley 1978 - 1980 and finally Solihull from 1980 - 1981.

The Ital moved to make way for the Montego, I guess they didn't want a break between the two cars being available. The Ital was still bringing in the bacon (the Longbridge ones are easy to spot- this is when the SL and SLX replaced the HL and HLS), particularly in fleet sales. British Rail, British Telecom, Royal Mail and various utility firms were ordering huge numbers of Ital vans in the final years of production.

Ooft! An Astra Celebrity, two tone Silver / Black, remember seeing one if these in Blackpool when I was a kid, thought it looked great.

Would love to get this back on the road but space/ cash poor

Thought I recognised that background. The car is outside AutoExpress Garage in Saltney.
