I can understand, I am a bit of petrolsnob, but did they ever do a manual?

Yes, but I think only on the 2.2 diesel manual which I have even less interest in!

Yes, no point in all of that refinement - and spoiling it with Dieselness.

It is a good attempt with the 2.7 HDi C6, but it still sounds like a diesel at idle. This I could forgive on the XM 2.1 XUD as it didn’t also have EGR, DPF and other such shite to clean up its diesel filth waiting to go majorly wrong. The two noise, vibration and complexity together are just too much for my taste.

Selling off the heritage fleet is a sure sign the bods in charge no longer give a flying fuck about the Vauxhall brand (for good or bad).

I think it's more a sign that they recognise that Vauxhall customers mainly don't care about 'heritage'

Yeah, I looked at the sales figures once and I think they only sold 6 of them with petrol engines in the whole run.

Was a while ago so could be wrong but sure it was something like that.

It was more than that but not much more. I think there were like 30-60 UK petrol cars.

If I was flush I’d just go and buy one of the 10 petrol C6s for sale in Japan but I can’t see me ever justifying the import costs

Couple of small French cars at Albert Looms.

That one-owner AX which has been in storage is probably a really good little car and well-worth saving. Presumably, like most scrap yards, this place will ask an outrageous amount for complete cars and will be completely inflexible on the asking price, and instead weight it in for £50 of scrap when nobody stumps up the £800 or whatever

Pretty sure France is nearer, and with a wider selection. Granted it might not actually be much cheaper to import one these days thanks to the 50% of thick racists that makes up this country

Couple of facebook finds near me.

Love the streetwise always have since I first saw one and the logo is a little odd ball of a car.

I'd just screengrabbed those to post but you beat me to it! Both are 500 quid each which isnt massively unreasonable given they look quite tidy.

Looms seem to get quite a lot of interesting tat in

FFS, give it a rest. I voted remain and it is what it is. Most of my mates voted leave and I can assure you  they aren't "racist" and they're far from "thick".

An Irish farmers favourite with the lovely Liam Byrne engines. Usually the boot was full with a square bale of hay and held half shut with bailing twine.

I've a funny tale about the those Carina's. My cousin's father had one and it was that very mentioned car. A car that just worked, no more. It got reversed into by a contractor in a JCB fastrac and mangled the bodywork.

So it became a field car. One day my cousin tried to kill it. I was passing and he told me what he'd done with it.  He had gone and left the brick on the accelerator and walked away from it, it bouncing off the rev limiter. Walked up to the next field, I was distraught at the thoughts of expecting it to have spat a con rod out of the block. But no. It had only run out of petrol.  Probably blew the cobwebs out. It started up fine later.

What a car.
