When BMW bought Goggomobil in the early 1970's they ceased production of the 250 saloon but licensed AWS to build a utility version for use as a local transport for shopping trips. Around 1400 were built between 1973 and 1974.

The whole story is quite ridiculous really. A former Borgward dealer, building a car primarily designed for local (shopping) use, which looks like it could have been a Kubelwagen in the Postman Pat universe, based on a microcar that was by then already a 15 year old platform. Not a sales success, strange isn't it...

I'd want one, obviously.
