A nice Toyota crown Comfort Here

I went to view it from the last seller who I backed out of due to the fact the owner lost the v5, so I imagine this current owner bought it and took the risk.

It has mysteriously gained a defectless mot since I've looked at it and gone to the other end of London.

It has not been taxed in two years, seemed to be taken off the road in 2022 when it had a accident as it was declared a category N. (which the seller is not declared). Since then it's gone through at least two owners but never officially gone back on the road.

Annoyingly I really wanted to buy it but was not willing to take the risk on a car with no v5 that was possibly stolen. Apprently the current owner has obtained a v5  but vehicleenquiry.service.gov states the last v5 issue was in 2022 so he must be selling it under the name of the previous owner.

I would be intrested in it but the guy is accepting offers over £2000 more then what it was for sale for a couple weeks ago (the asking price, I'm sure he paid less), i wish I could get away with that kinda selling strategy!

And the radio is broken. Lol

Edit: car was pretty much mint  other then missing badges and a badly painted wing to be honest.

Seeing a hybrid drivetrain in this is quite a strange sight. I'd be worried about the batteries being end of life, as usual.

Its a strange setup in these, the battery is only a 36v unit that costs around £700 from toyota, people have apprently fitted three smaller  12v batteries in series to achieve the same result. I would be cautious of this.

When I viewed it, it had 35ish volts on it but it was just running. You also have a second cooling system for the inverter or motor. So their is additional complexity to the hybrid, but in typical Toyota fashion people say they are robust providing nobody has tried to jump the car in the incorrect way!

Apparently the main point of this system was to have a stop start system with the hybrid motor that engages the harmonic balancer. The balancer would have a clutch so when you stop in trafic the clutch would disengage, the motor would spin up. Then you would have full Air conditioning even while the engine was not running in trafic. Unlike typical Toyota hybrids these still have a starter motor though.

I'm not 100% sure of how it works but that's how I think it works!

Toyota made a version of this car with the same engine without the mild hybrid, it gets around 15 more horsepower and it's more of a traditional setup. Or you could buy a four cylinder, Either petrol, lpg or diesel.

I think under 2 grand for this SC430 in a good spec could be a genuine bargain for someone.

Assume it includes the private plate as well? If so, insane value.

The 1-owner Volvo powered Safrane is now 750 quid, and I bet you can still get that price down quite a bit further. Has mot and not that many miles either.

Car is in 'very good shape' albeit covered in shit with a missing indicator lens.
It may be in good nick, but it bombs where first impressions are concerned. Where it's sat doesn't fill me with confidence, either.

Pity, it may well be alright.

That's why you can probably get it for 500 quid. Problem is that in this condition most couldn't be bothered to even have a look.

Anyway, another car I posted here before, now with highly questionable fresh mot. I think this now rotten E230 originally came from Singapore.
