I wonder if I could persuade one of the local banger boys to sub that Rolls for me with the promise of him getting it for racing when I finished with it?

I know that won't happen, the poor old thing is already overpriced by two decimal points!

I'm fairly sure I've seen parliamentary sessions containing less shit than that paintjob.

That could be signature material there

As Bird Shit strips paint can it be classified as partially restored? 🤣🤣

Pre-HE engine so gaze enviously at those with a later XJS getting 12mpg as you coax yours to do 10.  Or sometimes 9.

I loved mine dearly until it went wrong in an expensive way; Jaguar protecting their heritage right there.

They used fuel injection and if you peel off the Lucas stickers there are Bosch markings underneath, it uses the same D-Jetronic as the Volkswagen Type 3 and 4 of the early ‘70s and I think Volvo used it on the P1800ES too.  There’s a mechanical trigger in the base of the distributor, basically another set of points, and this sends a signal to the injectors for when to fire.

The slight drawback is that it can only fire twice per cycle so on the 4 cylinder cars it fires the injectors in pairs.  On the Jaguar it fires them 6 at a time.  Makes you realise how well they did to achieve 10mpg really

Love this, something about them made them the most appealing of eastern bloc cars

Because Live And Let Die was full of these Impalas?

And I've just realised... look at the interior pic.  On the dash there's a model of an Impala coupe; the same one I have, from the Bond partwork collection!

Earlyish SE5A Scimitar going cheap.  Paint is fecked and the chassis is probably rotten, but it's MOT exempt so who cares.

Considerably worse than ours, but considerably cheaper too.  Looks fucking bleak in blue.

May be an image of car

May be an image of car and outdoors

"Scuse me mate - any idea how you turn the fan on..."

No photo description available.

"Ah nice one".

I hope that's the engine fan and someone's gone to all that effort to wire up a switch, rather than just fix the bloody thing.

Those escorts were prone to the fan thermoswitch failing. You used to be able on the CVH ones to bypass the switch and by unplugging some of the wiring so the fan ran constantly.

Completely useless bit of trivia here but Blydenstein offered a conversion on these to port the head and uprate the cams. So mad it could almost be part of the Bullshit thread but it is true.
