The Owd Giffer had a quarter-share in one of these when he did his national service in the RAF about a million years ago.  It finally expired in deepest Suffolk on the way back to Bawdsey and was left in a pub car park, never to be seen again.

I had the 1.6 saloon version. So less useful. 
However it went like a mental thing. And apparently was faster than a similar aged Golf GTi (Although we were dealing with the MkIII so hardly difficult)

I also like this. In the grand scheme of things, a solid early Marina (the earliest estate left, apparently) in need of some paintwork for £1900 doesn't seem like a terrible deal. Slight wanky mods aside this is a textbook 'cool old car' now that 99 per cent of people have no idea what a Marina is

That kicked up rear window line was a remarkable foresight into the design language a lot of bigger SUVs use these days.

Blankety blank!  I am, of course, watching this.  It's in much better shape than Huggy (going by the photos) but those wheels would have to go.  Could one of our Glasgow chappies go and inspect it for me please?  If the chassis is good and that rear apron isn't hiding any ancient repairs (at least you all know exactly where to look, thanks to my thread!), Huggy will be available for whatever this costs me.  Wearing those awful wheels!  I'm so serious about this, I'm now going to ask everyone NOT TO BID please.
