Jag Leaper anyone?

Can't seem to see the for sale thread but then again am not in the mood to look too hard really  :-(

Rummaging in the loft this afternoon and found the chrome leaper I bought many years ago for one of my XJ40's.

No longer have Jags so do any of the Jaaaaag owners on here want it for a tenner plus a couple of quids p & p?

It is new and unfitted, just been stored for about a long time.

Let me know.

What size is it? If it is the larger one, I will take it for the rear shelf of Jaggy McJaaaagface

Put it on the wall and shoot it with an air rifle for a cheap Safari holiday.

I was about to leap to the defence of these stylish mascots, but the only picture in existence of Mrs N's old S-Type doesn't show the US market leaper I put on it.

If you look carefully you can just see the tail! I'd probably also get giffer Barry warning points for the mesh ' R' grille too.

When I finally man up and buy a shonky XF I'll try to resist a mascot, although I'm promising nowt!

I'll give you a fiver to throw it in the bin, I parked the XJ6 next to an x type with a leaper on it at the weekend, one car looked classy one looked like a turd.

A lot of leaper hate on here! I think they are fine on an older Jag but I saw one on a brand new car the other day, I couldn't abide that.

In the UK.

The Septics had them , maybe still have them up until much more recently. The one I had on that S-Type was a US spec factory one. The pre-drilled holes were under the " Growler " badge on the bonnet.

Again factory fitted for the US .

Looks like they died with the X350

A girl I knew in secondary school, her dad lost one of his eyes when he was younger. The local town mayor drove into him and his face got impaled on the leaper.

(That's what she told us at least)

I had a cat claw one of my eyes out but it wasn’t a Jag leaper lol but I’ve still got a soft spot for them and wouldn’t take it off our old S type.post-9282-0-71732300-1547507050_thumb.jpeg

I'll be in the loft later and I'll measure it up as soon as I can.

Cheers

I've already got one that was fitted to my XJ40 when I had it. It won't be going on the XJR.

My dad knew someone who mounted one once, didn’t quite get it central. To say it looked a right cunt was an understatement.

Jesus, Read that wrong at first.......

Then realised you meant fitted to the car, not they tried to insert it up somewhere the sun don't shine... (I think that may be more of a reflection on me, and my dirty mind though)

Setting this on fire is not enough, such things must be disposed of in vats of boiling metal to prevent it re-forming in a Terminator T1000-style.

Personally I think these should be sharper. Anyone dumb enough to walk in front of a car deserves pain as a form of training.

Imagine the outrage if I fitted a leaper to the virgin bonnet of my XJ, especially if it was one of those modern S/X Type ones.

I would be banished from the forum.

(I think SI/SII/SIII XJs can pull them off as long as there is a chrome strip running up the centre of the bonnet.)

Just to clarify, a cat once clawed one of your eyes out? That sounds grim.

I'm guessing you've got a soft spot for leapers, not cats?

The XJ-S had one but the previous owner removed it and had the holes filled and the bonnet resprayed. Not a great ob but still better than a leaper on a Jaguar which is not supposed to have one! However, a leaper on the right car looks great (and the potential for pedestrian injury is a super Brucie bonus) or mounted on a plinth in the front room.

Posted

The Leaper is 5" from tip of the tail to the tip of the nose. The plinth is 2 1/2" x 1/2".

The base looks a little like the roof of a house if that makes sense - this shape ^

So, saabnut if the right size or Mally.

Cheers guys.

Yep, I will take that, thank you. Let me know how much including postage and a PayPal address to send to.

Sorry, Mally!

I must dig mine out, it's around here somewhere as I've seen it. A little plinth & stand it on the radiogram after a polish would look nice.

I think I've got a couple somewhere so if there's a demand for these then I'm your man. Not to step on Ken's sale though
