Kiltox Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 BMW are keyless but I think they select park when you turn them off
bunglebus Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Any suggestions on the best adhesive to stick the plastic door membranes back on with? Think I've found the water leak into my car at last...
steveo3002 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 i use decent brand duct tape and some builders bag cut to size tooSavvy 1
twosmoke300 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 You can buy self adhesive membrane on the roll . Prob not viable for one tho . Some people call it crash tape . Can be used to seal up broken glass etc on crashed cars
bub2006 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Step sister had a 64 plate 730d as a courtesy car. Could select neutral but engaged handbrake and park when turned off. Some cars key can be taken out and shift lever moved though. The avensis was 1 but that was 19 years old. The focus on a w and vectra on an R had an interlock on brake pedal.
Guest Hooli Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 They should have an interlock much older than that, but they often get bypassed when a brake pedal switch has failed in the past. When I had my XJ40 I found a folded up lump of metal under the trim holding the interlock override down. The brake lights work so they must have done it as a bodge & forgot about it.
bub2006 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 The avensis never had one nor one mentioned in owners manual. The focus and vectra you could hear a clicking when brake pedal pressed. F reg metro didn't nor did f plate 340 but they are older.
bub2006 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Oh the 04 kia carens didnt have one either oddly.
gm Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Just a quick one : bleeding the brakes on an abs car - engine running or off ? cheers all
Kiltox Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Off! IIRC doing it whilst running can get air into the ABS unit gm 1
loserone Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I'm having bad thoughts about this... Those aren't bad thoughts, just get it bought. Make sure it's genuinely made in Sweden though, you need to get the certificate to prove it.
Des Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Off! IIRC doing it whilst running can get air into the ABS unit Oh bollocks, it's been my smugly held belief that engine running for anything post '85 will safely avoid anything going wrong. Back to the hissy leaky Easibleed for me then.
Pillock Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Can anyone see what options were put on a Fiat Panda Mrs the Princess is looking at on eBay? She really would like one with the optional side airbags and esp. The reg is LC06HSD. Thanks. Proper drawing a blank on this!VIN is ZFA16900000625949 butI can only find the ePer site from FiatForums that claims to do some of the lookup on it.However it keeps crashing out, you can maybe try later.http://eper.fiatforum.com/ Edit: Found another site offering the same data, but it seems that it just tells you what the spec was - not options fitted. You may be able to see something I didn't though.http://www.pekidi.com/navi?FORCED=TRUE Craig the Princess 1
Kiltox Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 I’ll let one of our actual mechanics clarify but I’ve never bled brakes with the engine running
DeeJay Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Those aren't bad thoughts, just get it bought. Make sure it's genuinely made in Sweden though, you need to get the certificate to prove it. An Ikea receipt will do. oldcars, loserone, RayMK and 1 other 4
Hendry Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 My mates mk2 Mondeo, should it have the red master key with it like Fords of that era or had they done away with it by the time of the late mk2s? It came with a later remote key same style as a mk3 Mondeo/mk1 Focus only no Ford badge (it hasn’t fell off like they often do, it has all the CE and MHz numbers etc on one side where the Ford badge can be found usually) and a spare original Ford black non remote key common to 90s Fords with a red tab in the top which I assume is where the immobiliser chip lives. But no red master.
DVee8 Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Is it possible to find out what damage a cat c/d was, when it happened and when it was repaired and or by whom? The reasonFiLV8 likes the look of this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2012-PEUGEOT-508-1-6-e-HDi-ALLURE-AUTOMATIC-SAT-NAV-LEATHER-20-Road-Tax/112742607718?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
DodgeRover Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Nope unless the previous owner kept photos before it was repaired.
DVee8 Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 The seller says cat c due to a" tap and a crack on the front bumper". FiL spoke to him this morning
Mally Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I like the look of it.But it says in the ad 'crack not repaired' or something such.Is he saying the crack was the only damage and made it cat C?

jon.k Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Most of my driving is around narrow country lanes with quite a lot of wildlife to avoid, and my car has pretty poor lights. Has anyone here wired up small led spotlights to use as stealth driving lights which come on along with main beam? If so, what did you use and did they make a difference?
Hendry Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Earlier ones had the red master key, later ones should have a key with a blue chip. What's the cause for asking, has he lost a key?Nah just wondered cos it’s came with original plates, dealer sticker, keyring, 2 keys, all the original books, a fully stamped service book from new, dealership owners business card yards yadda yadda yadda but no red key which I found weird considering it had everything else, so began to wonder if it never had one as I wasn’t sure when they stopped the red master key thing.

Bigger is always better when it comes to lights.
busmansholiday Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 ^^^ Totally agree, did something similar many years ago. Thing I do remember was the ammeter dipping into the discharge area every time I put them on, but they were fucking bright !!
DodgeRover Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Also handy when oncoming cyclists wearing head torches insist on staring straight into your eyes rather than looking at the road in front of them. spike60 1
jon.k Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I’m not putting mahoosive spotlights on my cars even if they’re effective! The mx5 will look daft, 305 van daft in a slightly more comical way, and 306 gti with massive cibies will look like I think I’m on a rally stage. I was thinking a slim lightbar or tiny led spots in the grille of the mx5 or van, but do you think they’d not be worth the effort? There are also 130w headlamp bulbs for sale for rally use but these are apparently not road legal.
