The Volvo C30's are nice and are basically a Focus in fancy pants. The interiors much nicer but the drive trains are the same other (including the 1.6d).

Insignias are shit by all accounts plus It's only me and the wife so we don't need anything that big any more, Those Lancers look great especially in saloon form but there's none for sale plus I'd imagine they would be another car that suffers heavy deprecation, look at the last shape Lancer model.

I love the S40 R Designs and the C30's are nice but I can't get past the ugliness of the rear tailgate, very Ford Pinto!

That's another one that been on the hit list since I first sat in one 5 years ago, the only issue was poor rear visabilty, like most new cars, That one above is local and seems like value but it's another one of those cars with very mixed reviews, anybody on here got any experience of them?.

I think the 1.6 mjet is the same motor than somehad in an Alfa Mito on here that spluffed itself and has various DPF problems, Get a quote for a third party warranty for it for a year the cost usually indicates if they're seen as a liability or not. I looked at buying a t-jet petrol a few years ago and thought it was a really nice car.

If you're worried about poor rear visibility then for gawd's sake don't get a Civic! That stupid rear window design is exceedingly frustrating, ruining what is actually a pretty decent motor.

It amazes me that anybody would even consider one of these Civics. I've heard loads of gushing reviews about them but they always concentrate on the styling (which is utterly shit and half-arsed, even I can see that) and gloss over the actual driving experience- which tells me all I need to know. Plus my neighbour has one and he's a wanker.

Having said that they must be quite idiot proof because it has never disappeared for a while before reappearing with non-matching panels like his Punto and Astra did every other week.

Anyone used Topran stuff before? Is it absolutely toss?

I need a pair of TREs for the golf, and these are not much more expensive than just the outer joints from serial shit peddlers GSF who I'd rather not use since almost everything I've bought off them has lasted only just long enough for me to bin the receipt. It's a £500 car so I'm hardly going to go to VW for them!

The 1.6 was woefully underpowered, causing a few heart stopping moments at junctions and slip roads. Probably as they weigh the same as a small moon.

Do all 2010/11/12 registered VWs have to have just one working front fog light/DRL that turns itself off when they go round a corner?

I wondered about that and concluded that you can only see that they're on from almost directly ahead.

I'm probably wrong again though :)

Swmbo's smax has a fog light that turns on in the direction of the corner when the wheel is turned past 1/4 or so. I think Audis also dim their drl when the indicator is turned on but only on the side of indication.
