busmansholiday Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 Cheers Moog, I didn't know about the digital transfer service. As long as he has that reference number on the photocopy that should work fine and save me the 25 bucks for replacement V5. Make sure he has a copy of of all 4 pages of the v5, not just the front page. When doing it on line, ie via your phone etc, you need the code off the bit you're supposed to be given when the previous owner sends the V5 in. It's the same number as the front page but has an additional number at the start. It doesn't work without it. Also, when I did the C3, it took me to the tax it page half way through giving me the option of SORN or cough up time.
The Moog Posted June 25, 2018 Posted June 25, 2018 I think it is just an extra number - Cav pointed it out before. Add a 4 at begining to turn 11 digit into 12 to tax it.

Shirley Knott Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Brake pad time for the Lupo, I'd like to avoid ECP/CP4L this time around on the basis they're killing local factors and also are constantly sending me parts that don't fit Local factor has two options, QH branded jobbies for £15 or Andrew Page's own brand (Drivemaster iirc) for £13... Has anyone tried either of these?
twosmoke300 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Drive master are terrible Sigmund Fraud and Shirley Knott 2
Shirley Knott Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Cheers, Pretty much narrowed down to QH ones then...
3VOM Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Is this the end of..... Mk3 Golf. Airbag light is on and won't go off. No obvious reason. I've heard that it may be fixed by swapping steering wheels but however the fix is implement it still needs the light resetting by VAGCOM or whatever. Anyone any knowledge of the situation please?
cort1977 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Is that even a requirement for that age of car? If not, black maskers, job's a good 'in.
mark1986 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Often caused by a dodgy connection in the wiring loom under the front passenger seat, especially if it's a 3 door and you often move the seat? Was under the impression that if the light is on, it's a fail, but a bit of masking does the trick nicely
Kiltox Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 If the MOT changes in May which meant a non functional EML is a fail didn’t also mean such for the airbag light, black tape or remove bulb
3VOM Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 What wiring under the seat(s)? I couldn't see any. Yes it has seatbelt tensioners but I had a look and couldn't see how they were connected and where the wiring went.I also thought the airbag light not going out was now a fail as 7.1.5c (if I got that right)
stephen01 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 How hard is it to change car tyres? Without a tyre machine?
Guest Hooli Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 From my experience of doing a LR tyre once, an absolute cunting utter fucking shitwankycunt of a bastard! I tried it on a mate's farm & we ending up parking his tractor on the tyre to break the bead.
mark1986 Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Passenger airbag sensor should either be under the seat or possibly behind the sill trim? Will leave it to the MoT experts to confirm on the masking
gm Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 I presume this is some sort of scam ? "From: Alex MitchellHi, Would you take £2500 for this vehicle? I could pay a deposit over the phone today and collect within two weeks. Thanks."
sierraman Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 Yes. Would YOU buy a £2500 car youve never seen. Expect him then to come up with some batshit story about accidentally paying you £25,000 so you pay him the £22,500 back. gm 1
gm Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 maybe I should accept the deposit and do a runner myself ?
Pillock Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 How is he going to pay over the phone, by reading out serial numbers of £20 notes? Tell him an envelope of cash is the best deposit....
davehedgehog31 Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 I've asked a fair few questions on here over the last couple of weeks - but this should be the last for a bit chaps. I've read good things about Evans Halshaw's car buying service on here - they've offered me a really fair price for my 407, I cannot be fucked selling it privately for maybe £150 more, so it will probably go there. It is actually in really nice nick with none of the bumper scuffs etc you'd usually see on a car of it's size. I have a few issues with it, just wondering in other's experiences how likely they are to try and knock money off... - Most obvious, I only have one key, the other has vanished into thin air. They'll obviously notice this. - Parking sensors have a fault, disabled with the button on the dash.- Air con needs re-gassed.
steveo3002 Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 bosch spark plug codes.. my car needs wr6dc+ the box says +12 wr6dc+ whats the +12 mean?
Guest Hooli Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 bosch spark plug codes.. my car needs wr6dc+ the box says +12 wr6dc+ whats the +12 mean? Dunno Bosch don't list that on their description of the codes http://br.bosch-automotive.com/media/parts/service_parts__auto_parts/spark_plugs__service_parts/downloads__spark_plugs/Typformel_Erklaerung_de.pdf
sierraman Posted June 27, 2018 Posted June 27, 2018 One of the assumptions usually is that it has a pair of keys. Could be wrong there but I'm sure my in laws got pulled up about it at the actual appointment. davehedgehog31 1

On this occasion, it's easier to shift it before the end of the month rather than keeping the tax and insurance going, that would start to eat into the potential benefit from a private sale.
