Ford timelord

Surely Mr Cauty hasn't been reading our research and decided to resurrect Timelord off the back of it given its new popularity?  If that happens I will be very shocked and very happy indeed.

It's not like Jimmy to get sentimental about stuff - from his public persona - he's very much the build and destroy it guy. But you never know...

took its sweet time to process,

and a (very!) good example for "took long to process" camp is @egg's Mk12 of course! which we know took until september for the V5 to finally get issued by the DVLA!

maybe he is a closet shitter, and we will have a surprise guest at the next shitefest?

can you imagine that!

This is really the thread that keeps on giving, what a story.

I have an inkling that this new V5 and keeper change is a red herring, Jimmy Cauty has cottoned on to all this new interest in the Timelord and is deliberately muddying the waters. Clever sod.

Have spoken to @Philmanns and he confirms it's not him who's registered the new V5, nor is it the chap behind HuntTimelord..

He did point out something I hadn't thought of though - the change of keeper was made on the 23RD.  Yep, that number again!  That makes me think it is indeed Mr Cauty himself - he's onto us!

This thread keeps throwing up little twists & turns on every page.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy Cauty is pranking us somehow, it seems in the spirit of the KLF.

I did wonder if the original timelord had the panels from the 2nd one swapped into it & then it was painted just to be a static prop?  Also did the VIN plates get swapped when the cars were mixed & matched?

no I dont think so! thats an amazing find

the timelords last tax disk where the hell did that surface!

perhaps where it came from might give us more clues to where the timelord is/ended up! :)

(interesting that its only a 6 month disk, and I wonder what the 2 on the far side of the reg number line means?)

Would this be any good Quicksilver? At 0.18 and 0.30 in the video theres an interior shot that shows the shifter on the column and doesnt look like a clutch pedal to be seen.

I’m pretty sure there would be no clutch pedal because I don’t think it was a manual. If you said Hurst shifter back then, it referred to the ratchet shifter for auto boxes. These were popular with drag racers because you could hold the box in 1st and manually ratchet to the next gear with no mis-shifts.

The manual Ford box was the Toploader, which I thought was only a 4-speed but it turns out there’s a 3-speed variant too.

Just trying to clarify the second car was an automatic. I found it funny the first car was a clapped out straight six and a 3 speed manual with a performance enhancing Hurst shifter :D All for a bargain £300!

Yeah none of it really makes sense to me!

Blues Bros cop car was a column shift, for what it’s worth. But I think that was a Dodge with a 440.

Yes a Monaco.

Hurst did various types of manual & auto floor shifters  ,shifter knobs for most makes.

I guess it would have not been worth a lot because of the poor condition it was in, & the difficulty of sourcing parts to fix it up, not to mention the high running costs.

It was a cop motor, but also a model made before catalytic converters, so it ran good on regular gas.

Blimey, this thread keeps coming up like a raver at an acid house party. :D

Which is kind of apt really.

so I was talking to Stuart about this earlier this morning (read: at 3AM)

and it got me wondering, theres not a 3rd car suddenly out there is there?

what if Jimmy got a 3rd 1968 Galaxie/Custom to stick WGU18G onto for some reason?

@Philmanns ya have not sold WGU18E to a mysterious man going by the pseudonym Cimmy Jauty or something have you? LOL

I spoke to Phil and Brendan (owner of the other road-going replica) last week, and it's nothing to do with them.

Yeah I meant the last line as a bit of a tongue in cheek thing :)

(thats what I get for commenting on a post with no sleep LOL)

Which is Brendan's car?

Yes it doesn't have the patina of the original or the other rep, but it is an incredibly beautiful car.
