What vehicle/s do you really want?

What do you want and keep hold of?  We all have our favourites, some more obscure than others.  Let's have it.

What I want to get my hands on if I had the space are as follows.

Rover 820.  Probably saloon this time, had 2 fastbacks.  Maybe even the diesel.  Include the coupe in that.

Rover 418SD turbot estate.

Rover Metro/100 with K series engine.  Include the diesel.  Stupid mpg on that.

Volvo diesel estate for dragging the holiday box.  I would need a solid beasty for this.

DB7.  Why not!

I'll amend if I remember anything.

I know I'll probably get told they're shit but here goes -  A Citroen DS, probably a 21 and a Citroen SM.

And actually, if someone gave me a mint Austin Maxi in a good colour I'd happily tool about in that.

Other than that I'm quite happy shitting myself on wet motorways in my GT 86.

A 70s Cadillac.  Oh wait...

Bedford CF.  Going to have to happen when I can drive again, whenever that is.

Vauxhall PA Cresta.  One day...

A Bentley, preferably a T1.  My mother's maiden name was Bentley.

Volvo 200 saloon, in 2 door Australian spec.

In the same gold as the 262 advert with the giant dog in the back.

This could be a long list, but off the top of my head... The current top of the list is

Land Rover Discovery 3.... because who doesn't love expensive unreliability?

Range Rover L322 supercharghed, as above, faster.

VW Touareg V10 TDI.... as above, but you need a specialist rig for engine work

VW Passat B3 TDI Estate... Sentimental reasons, They've gone silly money now, sadly.

Fiat Marea 2.0 20v..... Because 5 cylinder Italian police car... Car i possibly regret not buying second most

Fiat Croma Turbo... Rarer than rocking horse poo, see B3 passat.

Fiat Tipo Sedicivalvole

Fiat Panda 4x4 Sisley

Renault Clio Williams.... My biggest car regret not getting one that was MOT'd and priced at £850 but in need of rear arches. Even spending £2000 on the body and paint i'd have likely tripled my money. Prices of them exploded about 6 months later, can't even get a bare shell for under 2k now. Useable ones start at £5500.

BMW E38 750i... Not as good as the 740, but if less is more, just think how much more more could be.... A black one looks and sounds a symphony of evil at start up.

Volvo 850 T5, manual, of any flavour.

Rover 825D.

Volvo 760 with the PRV.

Any hideous mid 80s FWD Yank with an odd capacity V6.

Peugeot 605 SRTI.

BMW 525tds, E34 flavour.

Fiat Coupe Turbo.

That's about it.

2 door HB Viva  or an  HC  if it was a coupe  or Manta series 1

Mrcento you shoulda said...!   I refused a Williams 1  for £700 last week... with rusty arches. I did pm someone on here about it , as it had ownership issues like that Strada on here a few weeks ago.. soz

I'd love a 2.1td xm manual! Not fussed about trim or estate/hatch.

Missed the boat now though, values are on the up

Posted

1999ish Audi A6 2.8 Quattro manual (2.7T if I dont have to pay for repairs) - Liked my winter beater so much that I want one with more grunt now

1990ish Infiniti Q45 - From the golden Era of Japanese automakers, lots of power and luxury in a very interesting body style

1992ish Honda Legend Coupe manual - Probably one of the best cars Honda has ever built

1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic LTZ - I loved this generation Caprice since I've first seen it in Jumanji probably 20 years ago

Every single last gen GM B-body with the LT1 V8

1992ish Mercedes W140 S500L/500SEL Black with grey lower body cladding, brown/tan interior and orange indicators - Just one of the best cars ever built

These are at least the cars from the top of my head I would instantly jump on, should they show up for sale around here at one point, sufficient funds provided. The list is endless for cars I'm generally interested in...

The only remaining Invicta Black Prince Wentworth Saloon.

Since this won't happen, I'd settle for an Armstrong-Siddeley Sapphire 346, or a Hooper Empress bodied Daimler.

Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo with 6 speed box.

They say never meet your heroes, in this case, i'd agree.

I love the 20vt coops, there's so, so much right with the LE models and the last ones (where they fitted the bits from the LE like the 6 speed box), but sadly, the gearbox itself isn't one of them. It's just an existing Alfa box and the ratios are all wrong for the 20vt engine. The 5 speed is better.

And they are bizarre on insurance for some unbeknown reason. A standard 20vt Coupe isn't bad at all on insurance, pretty much the same as an average warm cooking Mondeo. When it gets to the late ones, the insurance treads into Ferrari territory despite it being a near identical car bar the gearbox!

I want different things almost every week - not things I could go out and buy but fantasy things.  It changes almost every time I buy a lottery ticket....

However two vehicles remain a constant Want.

A really nice Mk3 Zodiac.  Had a few Mk3s but I want a Nice One.

Also a Jaguar 3.4.   Not the caddish Mk2 but a muted murky coloured Mk1.   With hubcabs.

I suppose I should add a 1959 flat top Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedan.   With that retina-searing all red interior.

Yeah, that would all do....

“Low cost big liability” wishlist:

L322 RR, preferably 5.0 supercharged

Bentley Continental GT

Aston Martin DB9

Astra VXR

All bottom of the market knackered examples of course.

“A bit more shite”

Would love another AX, preferably a minty one rather than a fucked one

Skoda Felicia, high spec example rather than base and again, not a shagged out one

320touring’s Mercedes he’s just bought ;-)

Jaguar XJ8

Laguna II V6

Vel Satis

Espace V6

Not fussed on exact models but these three are on my need to own at some stage list:

Saab

Alfa

In an ideal world

Rover 620ti

Near to reality

Something cheap and cheerful off a fellow Shiter, possibly via a Roffle

Duly noted, thank you. I wanted one for my Birthday a few years back but couldn't afford it and now I don't think I'll ever to be able to afford a tidy one sadly.

A Crown Vic; that would be the sensible daily.

In addition I'd have a Maserati Biturbo, a CX, a BX, a Dolly (not a sprint, but a modified lowly one-has anyone ever put a Saab turbo in one?), a Volvo 700 with a V8, an automatic XM, SD1 (2.6 auto I think), a number of Land Rovers-Defender 90, Disco 4(?), an SM, a J-body yank (I think, the ones that look like Cavaliers), a Fox-body Mustang...I going to bed now but will continue the list in the morning.
