I wanted to scratch the V8 itch too, but specifically with a manual gearbox for all teh funs.

 

So I bought a Land Rover Discovery 4.0 V8, which at least adds a bit of practicality to the financial ruin

Think that's bad? I had a Chevy Celebrity with the 2.9 V6. All the financial ruin of a V8 with none of the performance or street cred.

I had the same itch. Had a stag up to to 2 years ago and just recently bought a petrol L322 Range Rover. Glorious sound and very refined at the same time. Not expensive to scratch the itch but I know it’ll bite me at some point.

The trouble is, like all itches, once you've scratched it you'll have no choice but to keep scratching.  This is my third Cadillac.  But the sense of serenity it gives you is unbeatable.

The cheapest access to reasonably reliable high power v8's is Mercedes S-Classes.

 

5.0 300bhp for around a grand.
