Pillock
So I tootled on over to this after waking up late, and having to fetch a car back from the wedding I was at yesterday. Managed to roll in just after lunch, obvs for the RR type people it's a weekend event so some of them were already leaving as we arrived and there was a mass exodus about 3pm, still plenty to see though. For the uninitiated, it's a mix of young people with wonky haircuts camping, a retro carpark which is well worth wandering around, club parking zones, and then the hillclimb. It's reliably a good show every year, it does suffer when it rains but this year was lovely - I wish they wouldn't have put it on the side of a hill though, my poor legs hurt. Here's some pics of the club parking and retro parking areas. I'll do them in batches as it's a fairly tedious process and I've got quite a short attention span. I also want to put something really witty as a comment to each one like proper autoshiters do, but that takes some serious mental ability so I'll need a bit of a lie down after each batch. First up! Fire Engine. Shit, sorry, need to get better at the comments. Have a delightyfully patina'ed Squareback that seemed to be honest rather than deliberately knackered. This Mini had obviously had a lot of hard work put into it and revealed a genius way of disguising wonky panels, by further wonkifying them. One thing I liked about this was the relationship between the blue Toyota, and the blue Toyota parked back to back. It was like they'd planned it, but I don't think they had. The Rover guys had also got the memo. "Let's Offroad""Chill your tits Clive, I've got a sales meeting to get to" Almost like twins Bloody loved this buggy, it was proper 80s naff styling like there was a buggy factory that just didn't shut up shop with the rest of them in 1976 and just kept chucking out tweaked designs. Pillock
I mean, what's there to say about this? It's like an automotive digestive biscuit. The Stevie Wonder Wheels Award goes to.... This looked quick (as much as a stationary car can), it also had what appeared to be a proper racing interior with toggle switches and metal seats and ting This was green You've gotta ask yourself, what type of person buys an SUV and then strips the interior out? I'm hoping it was also fairly fast to suit, and TBH I'd forgotten this shape even existed. A little bit of ill suited wheel action perhaps, but this looked nice and honest too MINTY FRESH This WINNER had installed a Vauxhall MV6 under the bonnet of this Datsun. Or something. Yeah, no. A bit novelty, a bit trying too hard. Did sound nice when I passed it on the M40 last week though. RobT, vulgalour, Jon and 11 others
Pillock
Last lot from the carpark. Builders Express Executive Cruiser vs some hairdressermobile Favourit club were there, small in numbers but unlike many clubs they'd actually bothered to clean their cars Cannon and Ball. No wait, I meant Little and Large This looked funny. I laughed. One for the Max Power thread. vulgalour
I've been following the build thread on that Allegro for a while. From memory (because CBA to drag up the thread), it's sporting a K series up front and MG subframes while the suspension is conventional coilover rather than the original Hydragas. It's a fairly impressive build all told. The Fresh and Minty Acty is very tongue in cheek, on air, and used a fair bit. Again, CBA to drag up the thread right now, soz. Sir Snipes
I like the Nova GTE and I use to hate those dam things. Minty S13 Silvia is really nice. Looks like a factory Aero bumper on the front (not relation to bubbly chocolate, mint or otherwise) - probably a copy as super rare.

dollywobbler
Always an amazing show. I saw barely any of it! Mighty Dacia made it though. It shared a HubNut/Retro Japanese stand with a unique Nissan Primera P10 4x4 and RatDat's amazing Mitsubishi Colt 1400 T120 Delica thing. There will be video to follow at some point this week. As ever, stupendous variety. I think my favourite car was the CBR1000-powered Rialto, which proved that it wasn't just quick in a straight line! Anthony
I think my favourite car was the CBR1000-powered Rialto, which proved that it wasn't just quick in a straight line! That was brilliant. There was notable conflict between your ears hearing what sounded like a superbike at full chat and a Reliant coming up the hill at speed
Mike D
I really enjoyed it, no pics though as I'm very lazy. I liked the ratty transit with the lexus v8 and tubbed rear end
Pillock
These pics may be backwards to save me too much scrolling Lotus Carlton doing pretty much what it was built for, showing off BMW 850 says he can do that too. Pogweasel Express Scirocco appeared to be forced induction of some type, presumably 20VT, but looked nice and stock apart from the big steels. An Eagle kit car? Think it was Ford based but had various VW bits on too. It was someone's stag do and this was the output, I think they'd been building it up over the weeks for him to drive it here Looked fast, sounded fast, was outpaced by most things Presumably a replica.... Or very expensive and fragile. There were some invited time attack cars that weren't really suited to the hill climb but we're nice to see Sierra had mad ground effect downforce stuff (looked like a sideways bookshelf under the rear) and was running a Lexus V8 Fiesta also had lots of aero trickery This was shooting flames out of the upright exhaust and doing smokes Daft DAF complete with laggy bands Not standard. Had a habit of kicking out lots of black smoke as it leapt sideways off the line. Hooray! I forget what the badge on the back said, but it was essentially implying it was supercharged? Is that a thing? All of the lag. Nothing nothing nothing nothing EVERYTHING AND SIDEWAYS Evil, evil Corrado. Suspect it was a turbo VR6 because again all the power arrived instantly at mid revs, noisily and brutally.
