It's a wonder I haven't been blinded, the amount of times I've had to 'pay a visit' to have something or other picked, scraped or gouged out of my eyeballs. Those words, "I'll Just scrape the rust off your eyeball" while brandishing what can only be described as a perfect Z gauge replica of a traditional groundworker's scythe still gives me the fear. And yes, most of the time safety goggles were worn and were fitted correctly. The other times... okay, fair cop. LightBulbFun Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 another day, another REV tinkering session all the electrical gubbins I had ordered had arrived so while I still had some daylight left I set about getting them fitted main thing was replace the broken fuse holder with a new inline blade type fuse and fuse holder, hopefully one will forgive the wago connector, as first of all before making anything perminant-perminant, I wanted to verify this was indeed the issue (plus not only is it the bigger size of wago connector I belive Wago's themselves are pretty decent, certainly in my experiance much better then chocolate blocks! its a fair distance from anything its not as close to the metal work as it looks) and I am pleased to report, the crusty and failed fuse holder was indeed the cause of my lack of charging, and with the replacement fuse holder charging has now returned battery certainly needs a charge tho, its very noticeable just how much brighter all the lights get when the regulator cuts in as you take it off idle! but with that and a couple other odd jobs taken care of, the battery charging once more, I took her out to the chippy and back, this time remembering to grab a night-time shot for @Yoss as I failed to do so last time! (with a bonus shot of someone probably going "HFM!" at London prices LOL) and soon-ish I was back home it was a fun drive there and back, plenty of stop start traffic, gnarly junctions, delivery riders on bicycles e-bikes and mopeds wizzing about the place and a token few pedestrians entirely dressed head to toe in black clothing just walking out onto the road, all good for keeping one alert at least (and is why I elected to still go out even tho it was dark, I figured its good to do these things so one is kept fresh and familiar with it all) Vimesy, Sunny Jim, Crackers and 36 others 36 3

plasticvandan Posted October 30 Posted October 30 You must have been driving pretty slowly for the bag not to fall off the roof. Ideal connection would of course be a soldiered joint if you can manage it,suitably heat shrinked. Probably worth leaving the regulator alone for a while to prove the rest of the system, and if it plays up you have one ready.

I dont go for the Cod and chips at home because 1: its fucking expensive LOL 2: the quality/taste of the fish has not been quite worth the aforementioned cost, I will concede the FoD's local chippy does do a better cod egg and big_al_granvia 2

LightBulbFun Posted October 31 Author Posted October 31 on the battery front, I spoke with my brother and he happens to be dropping by here on Saturday for something anyhow, so I have just gone ahead an ordered a new battery from Tayna, same type 037 just to keep things simple (and I think its even the same brand etc) my plan/thinking with that is, hopefully by the time my brother gets here on Saturday ill have the new battery in hand and have it topped up, and will have figured out how the battery clamps work, so that once he gets here, he can just lift the old battery out bring that upstairs for me to put on charge, and then right away take the new battery downstairs and pop it in for me, I can then keep the 2021 on standby somewhere in the house, so if the new battery itself then goes flat, I can just rotate the 2021 battery back in, and so forth with minimal down time of having to wait for batteries to charge or getting my brother in on 2 separate days Dyslexic Viking, Rust Collector, CaptainBoom and 6 others 9
Dobloseven Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Seems like the main issues with REV are electrical and that's your forte anyway,so all seems to be falling into place for you.Wouldn't think the long periods of inactivity would have done the battery any good either.I'm a firm believer in keeping vehicles "live",which hopefully is what'll be happening now.Really happy for you as well.Keep telling us all about it. Those old continental fuse holders never grip properly, the modern plastic replacements to ceramic fuses have a tendency to melt before the fuse goes anywhere near its maximum current, and the fuseboxes themselves are usually riveted together which is a magnet for corrosion and vibration kills them. Plus finding a replacement continental fuse on the go can be a real problem nowadays. I like the blade fuseboxes which have lights to show you which fuse has blown. It just makes life so much easier. loserone, chaseracer, BorniteIdentity and 2 others 2 1 2

(thankfully last I checked REV's are all correct but ill double check soon)
