Thank you to everyone who has paid or arranged payment so far, this is much easier than Gumtree responses for previous cars.

 

For those who's other half is blissfully unaware (like mine was when I won it) the initial 'difficult' atmosphere was soon won over by the fact that the car was so nice in comparison to all the other shit that I have arrived home with.

 

It soon became the source of comments like 'Oh the Jag, yes John won it in a raffle' with a slight smile evident.

 

 

In other news the rear drop links were changed this morning and the slight exhaust leak that had been improved the other day had an exhaust bandage wrapped around the join to get rid of the final bit I couldn't find to fix before putting the clamp back on.

 

The car is now ready for going.

If it is anything like an XJ40 (and I suspect it is - the X300 is basically a facelifted '40) -  then retrofitting cruise control isn't difficult using secondhand parts. If you join www.xj40.com someone there is bound to have done it and will probably be able to help you. The member Naki.k may even be able to source the parts, since he has broken quite a few X300s. A quick Google of the site suggests retrofitting cruise on an automatic '300 takes about three hours.
