We went in a tearoom round about closing time. I've just walked 3 bastard miles, I'm having cake. Bloke goes to cut me cake, and then stops. He bangs all the cake that's left on a plate and gives it to me:

Winner!

So I had endless piss taking for eating it all, but if I've learned one thing in my life it's don't waste cake.

Top bombing

But... One thing that gives me the grumps is sitting in a restaurant and seeing people taking photos of their food.

I just demonstrated X-TREME will power by not bidding on a Saab 9000 that was proper winking at me, and letting it go for the opening bid of 200. Yesssss

If I was hiring "Amazing cars for Beautiful roads" I'd probably at least take the time to push the car out of view of a fucking skip and some buckled Heras fencing for the main banner photo. Truly aspirational stuff!

1 days hire: £95, Return to base

2+ days hire: £150 free home collection, booked with CarTakeBack.com

Taking pics of food isn't always about knob ends. Mrs PBK and I do mystery dining and it is a requirement that you have to take a photo of the food on the plate before you tuck in.

It is so that the company can ensure standards of portion control and presentation. I hate it too but it is a requirement sometimes.

Car dealers used to be good for this. Stuff like a pictures of a Clio with the sales manager standing having a fag behind some bins or a for sale picture of a Mondeo with an aa van with another Mondeo being dragged in for recovery in the background .

Answer yes or no. Do you get get paid to eat out?

If yes, where do I sign?

Based on a friend who does mystery shopping which occasionally involves restaurants, you pay for it up front, keep the receipt then they reimburse you.

To start with she just ended up with Mcdonalds and places like that, but if you work for the agents for a while and give them good feedback on your experience then you get more interesting gigs. She's had a couple of hotel stays (in the UK) and some nice meals out effectively gratis, the only caveat being she has to fund it up-front, then claim it back - otherwise the place will know you're not an average punter and the ruse will be ruined.

Miss Alf asked my advice on birthday pressies for her car mad fella. I saw the bit about halfords socket sets so suggested those.......and I got the job of picking one up.

Handed over my trade card more hopefully than expectantly and found it gave me/her an extra £25 off!

I was out cycling today and my nostrils were tantalised by the wonderful smell of 'the gorse'.

Instantly, I was taken back in time to my warm and happy childhood, and a day out in a family friend's MK1 Cortina through the Royal Park in Edinburgh.

The Royal Park is covered in flowering gorse bushes during the summer months.

The Cortina was maroon in colour.

Apropos of nothing, I went to see the new Mad Max film yesterday.

Let me tell you that old George Miller hasn't lost his touch.

Think The Road Warrior with a huge budget, but amazingly most of the stunts were organic, old-school bash-ups.

That is right, you start of doing pubs and so on, then you progress. You pay for the meal but you get reimbursed, sometimes it covers the lot or you end up paying a fiver or so for a meal and drinks.

It is very interesting but the report writing can be a faf as they sometimes challenge you over comments. Worthwhile overall I reckon.

Today I have had my mates mk3 cortina up to replace his borked non servo master cylinder with a servo and master cylinder set up i flushed all the crap old fluid out of the pipes before starting and made a couple of brake pipes, i fitted a pair of new calipers a few weeks back because they were seized, now it stops faster and sharper than it ever has done while he's had it, he was over the moon with it when he test drove it with me as a passenger, it makes me grin because he can finally enjoy his car now I've sorted the last of the mechanical problem's

Had a callout to a breakdown about two hours ago. Just back into the garage after a 90 minute trip to do a 10 minute journey.

Volvo B10M Mk.II which had jettisoned it's exhaust right at the flange after the turbo. Sounded GLORIOUS

I saw our mutual friend Jon today. I had mentioned that last Saturday he was taking part in the firefighters run up the Auckland sky tower, a simple jog up  1103 stairs wearing full fire gear including 25kg of oxygen tanks.

HE MADE IT....in 18 minutes, which is quite respectable !

He said that when he got to the top his vision had gone and he was very pale and took some time to recover, but all was well eventually..Congratulations Jon.

And I think you left something behind here, in the driveway. But hey ho don't worry, I shall sell it for you ! 1989 Nissan Bluebirds are easy to get rid of !

Just got round to bodging the Kia back together today, not been used in 4 months and started first time, sweet as anything.

Got to love basic reliable 1980/90's Japanese engineering.

I hit the reduced shelves and bought £17.60 worth of posh food today for £1.02. IN YOUR FACE, TESCO.

Our lass is always coming back with piles of stuff at like 70% off cos its going out of date, but if you weren't going to buy it all anyway, is it really a bargain? We ended up with about 50 massive bars of out of date dairy milk last time, for about £8. She's on a mega diet and I'm not that bothered for chocolate.

Anyway, I digress:

This has moved in round the corner from me, bloke who owns it seems to have cracking taste. He had a Bedford midi camper thing which got replaced why a Mitsi Delica, now this.

Got 100 litres of nice used veg running through my 5 micron filters just now-35ppl so I'm happy with that. I'll let someone else do all the collecting and dewatering and give them some cash for there time. Should be a good source too and nice and local.

Morrison's start knocking their fresh food down at 8.30pm. At 8.35pm I usually swoop in and get a couple of pasties (19p), a pie (19p), some sausage rolls (19p) and a few crusty rolls (5p/4-pk).

Living the dream. Fat, but not skint.

Facebook seems to have imploded or something. Today I got a notification asking if I knew 'myself', then two hours later got a friend request from me. WTF?

Hardly use Facebook as it has become increasingly annoying, now fast approaching annoying and ridiculous.
