Advice sought on having to spend £16000 on importing classic cars from...anywhere...to resell.

Anything mk1 Escort related from RHD-land? And don't forget to maximise the container space with parts. Then drip feed slowly.

Just had one of those "Father and Son" moments at the pez station... white, minty fresh new Volvo XC70 with cherry plate on one pump, I pull the Onslowbrick onto the opposite pump, all misfirey and multicoloured on a mix of alloys and steel wheels. I get out in my oiliest hi-vis jacket and manky jeans and start drawing fuel.

Old boy with the XC70 went in to pay. I finished fuelling and went in to pay as he wandered back out. Somewhat sarcastically he commented "Well they CERTAINLY don't make them like yours any more, thankfully!", before chortling and getting into his shiny new Volvo.

Guess whos Volvo wouldn't start... I'm almost certain I heard the Council Estate have a right good LOL to itself.

Thankfully they don't make Volvos that last 30 years any more? What a prick, I hope it was something expensive wrong with it.

Just came across this:

http://www.gleems.com/520011/gleems-looks-at-the-abandoned-supercars-of-dubai/?utm_source=outbrain&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=GleemsRSS

( hopefully the link works!).

I may drive a crappy 15 year old merc but at least I don't owe anything on it!

( Some times I think it looks like it was abandoned as it's never washed and full of crap!!)

I love the way there are apparently hundreds of these abandoned dream cars in dubai yet to get to 15 they have included a TT, a Z3 and a crappy looking mustang.

CMS - that's cos yours is genuine Scandinavian. The Scandinavian gods might be vengeful and all, but they're solid and favour justice. Chinese dragons are much more capricious...

I'm a bit depressed like cos I've had to leave our lass and move back in to my mums and I'm really too old to do owt like this while maintaining any kind of dignity.

Anyway I went up to the cricket club for a pint with my old feller and walked the scenic route back, I thought I'd pass the house of one on my old science teachers from about 15 years ago, see if she still had the shitty old van outside:

Still there! DVLA reckons the tax only ran out in 2008, but that's bollocks as it's been there since at least early 2000s.

Security lights mounted on the corner so guessing it's not moved in a while for sure.

My frail 89 year old dad used race Vincent motor bikes and was involved in the design of the Hillman Avenger when he worked for Chrysler/Rootes Group a lifetime ago, though I'm not sure how well he remembers it. He always asks what I'm driving, whether open top etc so when I went round yesterday with my ex in  my Z3 he got a run out in it with the roof off. Entirely due to her bullying, it was a good call. She is a nursing sister so is much more adept at getting frail folk into and out of low cars, and dealing with people in general than I am.

Yup, it's an Oxford I've owned since I was 19.  Which is quite a long time ago now.

Spent a lovely morning cleaning cars.

This is recently back from the body shop where the wings have been done and the front bumper so to say it's got 161k on the clock it's now pretty mint.

Serviced it in the week 7 odd litres of 0w-40 fully syn, all filters and 16 plugs wasn't cheap.

My old man recently had 4x new bridgestones on it so it drives spot on now.

Next in was the aero which had some hot buffing action to take out some swirls only went over it quickly but looks loads better.

Can haz fuelled polo with derv/veg 50/50 mix..

Less than 99p a litre average cost:)

No... I shouldn't have... but well you read about it but you never actually see it...

A VW Polo had a 'bonnet flipperUpper' on the A19(S) the other day and I arrived just as the driver had stopped and driven onto the central grass (just south of Teesside).

A fair number of cars had slewed/slowed as I'm sure it was a rather erratic stop.

I just had a bloody good laugh.... cos I'm like that

Happy today as a unique model coach I sold 10 years ago and regretted ever since has unexpectedly returned to my possession. I originally sold it to a friend but then he sold it on and I lost track of its whereabouts. Just last week I was pondering what had become of it, then out of the blue that very model turned up today on one of the Facebook model sales groups. A deal was swiftly done so after almost exactly a decade away it will be home very soon :-D Facebook isn't completely shit after all.

To be honest I'd never looked twice at those 9-5's but in that colour with those wheels it looks stunning.

Yes, I am easily pleased.

Srsly tho, it's well worth a visit for anyone around N Wales, loads of commercials and interesting stuff - 16th & 17th, Mona showground on Anglesey.

This place.

It's only when you look on another normal * forum that you realise how nice it is to be around online people who act and talk as if you are in the same room.

I went onto the Chrysler 300 Forum to see if RichardK had listed his Hemi knowing, he is/was a regular over there. He has, it's too nice for me and I really should get another dirty Rudolf anyway.

But,I digress, how I used to read that most days,I'll never know. Not only has it been made clunky and awkward to navigate by the Yanks,( they really need daveb47 ) the posts are so fake polite/PC whilst having an undertone of right wing superiority and "I've got a better car/ more money/ bigger cock than you" shining through a lot of posts.

I suspect the average IQ is somewhat lower than here, but they've all got lovely block paving.
