What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Wallander has been pretty satisfying to watch of an evening lately, right down to the slightly fuzzy camera work, the less than perfect sound and the pleasantly obsolete aspect ratio.  Feels more real than current HD tellybox that's for sure.

I love Wallander, the Krister Henriksson ones anyway, some of my all-time favourite TV that I think

I'm enjoying this evening's Wallander - particularly his Doom Blue 240 estate. GR9 in the snow, it seems.

I enjoy all the versions of Wallander TBH. It's good to see these early Rolf Lassgard films though, I've only seen the more recent ones...It's been good tonight, lots of commie shite too...

In the books Wallander is a Peugeot man through and through though...

And said Pug gives him a lot of bother, as I recall. Most realistic :D

You may also like... Martin Beck - one series with Peter Haber (just titled "Beck", they've just started showing series 5 - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0907683/?ref_=ttep_ep_tt)and Gösta Ekman, 6 films worth, based on the books and filmed in the mid 90's (you may recognise the lardy guy playing Gunvald Larrson)

Came to York for the National Railway Museum. Very good for free! Realised I took more photos of a rusty Mk2 carriage than I did Mallard because steam isn't nearly as good as dilapidated modern trainchod.

The split tailgate on the Frontera decided it wasn't going to shut earlier when me and Mrs Shrimp were out.

Said I would need a torx bit to fix it but didn't have any. We were driving past Halfords at the time. 'will they have any?' she asked. 10 minutes later I've got the big halfords advanced tool set thing :-)

Shame it still took me an hour to adjust the lock

Tomorrow I will mostly be pretending to be some kind of international diamond thief.

My super-wealthy employer has asked me if I can bring some "tools or something" in tomorrow as he has lost the keys to a strong-box of some description and wants me to try and force it open for him.

Im thinking power drill plus box of drill bits, hammer, flat screwdriver and other bashing implements.

I may have found a solid shell, to replace that of RUSTY LADA. Grin.

Just not entirely sure if it will still available when £££ come in :o

Can you get hold of some plastic explosive? I've always wanted to open a safe that way.

I'm still in bed, with the electric blanket on and off work until Wednesday.

Even better I put 5 live on and while hearing about the so grounded on a sandbank was"a great at of seamanship" which made me snigger. So juvenile.

My night on the town with this crowd was more than enough to make up for a year of grumpiness.

If you're playing 'spot the ladyboy' and pick my missus, she will find you and she will kill you.

I'm a spent man.

OK, I'll play. Middle pic, far right.

If that does turn out to be Mrs_Joe, tell her I'd prefer a .22 to the back of the head,

Nope not that one! But you survive this time. Mrs_KJ is the one next to me in the top pic.

For those of you with an interest in such things, the ladyboy is second from left in the first photo.

The one you picked has had 'work' done on the frontage, so you could be forgiven for picking her.

Meh, the strong box turned out to be one of those wee pressed metal petty cash boxes like yer ma would use at a carboot sale.

Stood it on end and stamped on it and it burst open.

Contents - travellers cheques, now with muddy footprint. Lucky it wasnt a Faberge egg or something.

Awww, that's a bit anticlimactic. And there you was with your diamond tipped drills, jackhammer, thermal lance and sticks of TNT...

Many years ago where my mate's dad worked they had a safe in the office. One night it was stolen, there were drag marks across the office and down the stairs. He always wondered what they thought when they opened it up because the key had been lost years before, they got into it by unscrewing the back. Totally useless as a safe it was just there as an ornament.

Should have used the jelly on it anyway.

After a phone call last week to the suppliers of my new welder to ask for advice, they reckoned that 0.8 mm wire was pushing it a bit for butt welding bodywork, and sent out a reel of 0.6 mm by next day courier :-) Arrived today so hopefully will try it tomorrow - if I turned down the current enough to stop it blowing through, it was reluctant to actually start the arc and just spat out a red-hot coil of wire on the surface.
