Above bil got bumraped for £180 in the end as apparently both tyres needed doing. He cried bullshit on my advice but paid up.

I gave him a beer to drown his sorrows when he came back with amy whilst they were doing it.

A while ago I posted a grin:

'Nissan Tiida saloon minicab'.

Well, I've outdone myself:

Spotted a Chevrolet Aveo minicab.

How the...?!

He didn't... When the locking but snapped he phoned up the tyre place local to us, confirmed that they could do it and crawled there with swmbo following close behind!

There was teeth sucking I heard when he got there...

My Celica is in the latest Practical Classics! No mention of the knackered rear brakes though

Went to Morrisons today and discovered that I can celebrate Ramadan by filling up the car with veg oil at a bargainous 15 litres for £12.

Cheers Islam.

Bargain! Veg oil is more expensive in the usually cheaper Costco.

Ramadan isn't for another month so. Seems a bit pre-emptive. Suppose its a bit like Christmas being advertised in October or whatever.

IT'S SUPERCAR! Really, that's what it's called!

It used to be owned by a dealer mate of mine, Mike Nash, purveyor of Leyland Nationals of distinction and lover of coke bottle Vauxhauls.

Haven't seen it out and about for a few years. Glad that it's still around and looking in rude health.

I went for a walk this evening, along a former favourite route of mine - a footpath which starts at the end of my road and meanders its way across fields up to the next village.  At least it did meander across fields - now the first part of it meanders between a field and a half-built housing estate.

I was honestly expecting this to be a grump, as I hadn't been down there since they started the building work last autumn and I was expecting it to be completely ruined.  I was amazed.  The builders have made massive great piles and banks of the earth that they've dug out from foundations, and the banks have been completely taken over by plants.  Wild flowers everywhere, all different types and colours, interspersed with odd sprigs of barley (which I can only surmise had already been planted when the field was dug up, and has since germinated).

I don't often get all sappy about this kind of thing, but it was absolutely beautiful.  It was overgrown to the extent that as I started to push my way through it, I almost trod on a muntjac which had been om nomming the barley.  Then further up there was a big flat area of bare compacted earth which I assume they're going to be building on at a later date - looked almost like a moonscape, except there were dozens of little plants pushing their way through, all different shapes and colours.

I'm beginning to see why nature lovers feel the way they do - left to its own devices it's amazing how quickly it can transform an eyesore into a thing of beauty.  I must get back there with my camera soon.

Correct, the "Mubarak" bit (which also happens to be my name) comes from the word "Mabrook" which means "Congratulations"

"Mubarak" is also a name often used as a first name or family name as in mine or the recently convicted "President".

That's Blake, he's 13 years old now.  He's a rescue dog originally and has anxiety issues that manifest as crazy barking and sometimes biting when he meets new people.  Once properly introduced he's fine, and some people he takes to immediately according to his own particular rules.  Providing his muzzle is on when meeting someone new he's fine and he would be okay with kids if only he'd realise he's not a 2 month old puppy anymore.

Trouble is, when I move out and my brother and his family take my place, Blake will be a bit too giddy with the kidlets and we don't want to risk stressing Blake out too much and there being an incident.  So I've been asked if I want to take him with me when I move and since the new flat appears to be okay with animals it looks like that's going to be the plan.

I love this dog to bits and pieces so I'm more than happy to re-home the daft bugger and give him a spoilt quiet life for however long that might be.  Might have to give him a bath though, he's got pretty stinky in his old age and his farts can strip paint.

Farty old dogs are for winners and the alsatian cross looks very nice too.

Called in to see my mechanic mate this morning as his email was playing up. He was telling me that the chap who bought my first W221 has had nothing but ballache with it. The Air-Ride failed again, outside warranty, the heated seats no longer work, nor does the cruise, the infra-red night vision and the boot won't lock. To cap it all, it's just failed its first MoT on a knackered DPF ££££ and front wishbones £230 EACH

In total contrast, the Jaguar X Type I bought for exactly one tenth of the money continues to give no issues and goes like a rocket. (It needed an o2 sensor a while back, but that was no biggie.)

Old cars FTW!

Sunk my jet ski yesterday. Water to the top of the cylinders and locked solid when I foolishly hit the starter button.

After watching the show - water spraying 6'+ into the air, when turning over after plug removal and about half an hour of fettling, miraculously and very thankfully, it was fine and ran like a champ for the rest of the day.

So fortunate!

Xantia passed it's MOT today with just a couple of advisories for worn tyres. This was despite it having been sat for 4 or 5 months & the battery dying completely.I jump started it off the MG this morning, drove it up there & left it running.I was worried they wouldn't test it if they couldn't re-start it,but they said they would jump start it again if they needed to.I was even offered a coffee while I was waiting.Proper old-school garage  :-D

Took the Xantia for a Kosovon Kar Wash today because I cba with DIYing it but need it clean for the funeral tomorrow.  They did a really good job, even tried to clean the rust treater off the rear arches for me.  Saw another Xantia estate in dark green today too so that's the first time I think I've ever seen another of the same sort of car as I drive.  Of course, that means the Xantia is now far too mundane and I must* sell it as a result.

From BBC weather site today:

"Monthly Outlook

Summary

And they say variety is the spice of life...

Through the last week, almost every weather type has been thrown at us in the UK - warm sunshine, torrential rain, thunderstorms, fog, and even reports of a tornado! It's this variety in our weather that makes it so fascinating as well as keeping meteorologists on their toes and it looks as though the next few weeks could continue to be just as varied!"

It may be 'fascinating' and keep meteorolgists on their toes matey, but pack it in!

Stop being arty and BRING BACK SUMMER!

That is all.....

Our theory is that Mum has been given superpowers and is abusing them.  Can't think of a better explanation for the crazy weather.

Got taken on full-time after doing my 13 weeks with an agency

Turned out they that between them and the Umbrella wages company I had to use they had been some "Irregularities" discovered

1st full pay packet from my new employers has included a Rebate of £900..........

Feckers ...lol

Glad you seem to have got your overpaid tax back, and congrats on the full time job Andy.

This whole umbrella thing is a complete scam, i wonder how many poor buggers are going to find huge backdated claims arriving on their doormats from HMRC, most of them will have thought things were all kosher previously, some been on these and similar schemes for years.

I spent nearly 18 months on 3 different agencies when i packed in the car transporters 5 years ago, first one went bust owing me about 8 days holiday pay but fortunately the Receiver got me every penny back, didn't go alleged self employed with any, and bloody glad i didn't now, despite being urged by all and sundry to do so, parasites the bloody lot of them.

Driving past my local Suzuki / Great Wall dealership this morning on the way into work, I spotted this sat on a BFO artic car transporter which was delivering much newer shite to the dealer.

Soz for shit through-the-rainy-window pic, but I was driving in heavy traffic at the time and didn't have time to both aim the phone and fuck about with the window.

I think it's the one that was on eBay recently - certainly the amount of plod that was evident in its flanks would point to it being the same one.  Wonder where it was going?
