I'm reading Autoshite on the coach home. Holy fucking shit, as a Victorian would say.

Yes I'm very easily pleased.

I thought BBC3 was the Beeb's attempt to be as shit as ITV. With some success.

BBC3 - The vacuous, the orange, the reprehensible and the aborted attempts to educate young people about all sorts of important things.  It shall not be missed.

BBC Three shall not be missed here either. In saying that, "Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps" was a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine at one point.

Yes, it can be a bit lowest common denominator with Sun Sub-editor style titles, but I quite like watching it when I just want to not think about something for an evening. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of da yoof seem to fall into over-indulging in the programming, and seem to replicate the reality stuff quite readily.

There was even a bit of old Humber Super Snipe shite on last night!

Aside from Family Guy and American Dad, the array of 'comedy' that BBC3 pumps out is staggeringly awful.

I find it all so terrible that within seconds of even seeing a trailor for one of these abominations, I turn into a snarling-any-channel-other-than-this-will-do-maniac.

BBC3. Have to say I did enjoy 'Pramface' but aside from that it did seem to be full of utter toss.

I've enjoyed a few BBC3 programmes but as I only watch it on the i-player this news isn't of any real relevance to me.

I think I watched (the excellent) Family Guy on BBC3 but however bad the rest of it is/was it couldn't ever be as bad as ITV. I honestly doubt anything is.

Try Ulster TV's "home grown" fare if you think ITV national is bad. They have a program called "Lesser Spotted Ulster", in which the presenter, Joe Mahon, goes all round Northern Ireland talking to demented aul fellas who do stuff like boiling up stones and making fuck knows what in their gardens. It's been on for years, and poor old Joe has now talked to so many inbred nutcases that he has developed the "thousand yard stare". He's gonna go apeshit any day now and mow the whole crew with a magic stick that some crone from Derrymacash gave him.

Boiling up stones eh? Lol.

Can't imagine what the point is, apart from hot stones.... But what do I know?

:-)

Edit. Stone soup may be a delicacy in some areas. Nigella may know?

Lesser Spotted Ulster.

Maybe you're just a master wordsmith painting pretty pictures with your prose, but that programme sounds really good.

Straight from the internet, so it must be true!*

"Luckily my mother decided to humour me and we made a pot of our own version of stone soup using a stone from the garden and some veg from the fridge."

When they ditch BBC3 will we get a rebate on the TV license ?

If not I'm going to BBC centre dressed as Stewie Griffin

There are often films on BBC3 too. Its nice to watch them without adverts.

I too watch Family Guy and American Dad a lot (most nights actually). Charlie Brooker started on there didn't he (or was that on 4?), Russell Howards good news is good, Orphan Black was a really good programme (looking forward to the 2nd series of that), Uncle that was on recently was pretty good, Vic and Bob's Catterick was on there, 'How not to live your life' was really good IMO, Ideal with Johnny Vegas was BBC3 I think, The Revolution Will Be televised, whilst not very original in concept was well executed from what I remember (did not see the 2nd series), and IT'S GOT MT T ON IT IN 'WORLDS CRAZIEST FOOLS', YOU FOOLS. YOU MESS WITH HIM, YOU GUNNA MAKE HIM MAAADD, GRRRRRRR!

But is does have that twat off radio one who has seemingly done the impossible and made it onto the airwaves despite having less personality that Gary Davis, doing that show with that streak of piss Russell Kane that looks like he touches kids, which is soooo bad it kind of balances it all out.

Not only are they not reducing the licence fee after BBC3 goes, there's a plan to make people who only watch catch-up TV online (which currently doesn't need a licence) to pay too.

In short, years of making wank TV has taken their toll and they're out of cash.

I've just shown SWMBO (who become actual Mrs Pillock later this year) the wedding photos and I think we've settled on the "dogging action" one right at the top. I say "we", I probably mean "I".

That's just what I was thinking when I saw the fucker with the accordion. :-P

Also....

FNARRRR.

In other news, I quite like some of BeebTheThird's output like FG and MrT. I think it'll probably end up being another sabre rattling excersise like they did with a couple of the radio channels a while back.

What would happen if everyone just told them to stick the TV licence up their arse I wonder. In all my years of living in the city with the lowest collection rate of telly tax I've never heard of anyone being taken to court over it. At most if they physically catch you watching telly they make you buy one but most of the time they just send ever more amusing "We're coming to get you" letters.

Good things come in threes it seems - got a cheque from the insurance company to cover the break-in 3 months ago, and only £200 short so that kind of feels like a result when you get the money all in one go.

Number two, an indicator arrived in the post today (thanks catsinthewelder!) so will be driving the BX tomorrow :-) Not moved since November...what could possibly go wrong with old French hydraulics?

And lastly, I bought a new battery for my bike and tried to start it for the first time in 3 years. I drained the old fuel from the float bowls last night, to give it a fighting chance and was absolutely amazed that it fired up so easily!
