In the past half hour I've seen an abandoned G reg Transit, an H reg one in use, an N plate smiley beavertail and a P reg smiley Luton. I'm surprised and strangely pleased.

i went to pick the bloody expensive oil pump up that i ordered from ford for my saph that i wrote about in the grump thread and it didn't come with a gasket and wasn't supposed to, so i asked about one and mentioned if the lad had told me on saturday that it didn't come with one i would've bought one at the same time, the guy ordered it'll be in tomorrow and chucked it in free of charge, im chuffed not for the fact that its saved me 5-6 quid but that customer satisfaction still counts for something.

Was in local Tesco garage ,where a retard in a Corsa was chopping and changing which pump he wanted to go on and generally being a pain in the arse. Whilst I was filling up there was a loud ,almost cartoonish CLAAANNGG!!!!, the Corsa driver had ,in his rush, slipped over going to the kiosk and hit the metal flower display head first.

I almost spilled diesel down my leg, trying not to laugh. I am a bad person.

(Apparently he was a salesman from the local Vauxhall dealer putting a fivers worth in a new car)

I met them today actually, they're all quite nobbable.

They'll love you having a car to take them shopping in.  Landed on your feet there Dicky.  Any future updates on the Maestro thread MUST have some Slovak content :-)

In the space of ten minutes this morning, I saw two 1980s Volkswagen LTs, both with a Luton body.

I put in a good word for my mate's lad with a local independent garage around Christmas. The young 'un in question has worked there since the start of the year, and they're delighted with his work. (I bumped into the proprietor, who's also a mate, in the motor factors today.) Early days yet, but it's looking good.

One of these jobbies?  They really are the most ridiculous looking thing, like someone put wheels on an office block.

Whilst I was 'working' in a hostel in Bulgaria I met a South Korean chap who was 18 months into cycling around the world, He showed me pictures of two guys he had met in India. One was cycling around the world with a full sized canoe strapped to his bike, the other had pushed a shopping trolley full of his belongings all the way from Germany to India. Makes my walk through Europe look like a trip to the shops.

I get to use the works van as a company vehicle. The tax on it is actually less than I'd spend in fuel for my truck driving to and from work. That means I can put all the short-journey wear and tear on the Astro instead.

Trouble is, the 2001 Astro is boderline shit.. the controls feel almost exactly like the M reg diesel Escort I used to drive for the airport, but with a 4.3 V6 under the floorboards it goes ok. Doesn't like to stop which is GR3 for hauling stuff about, I think the brakes are made from mahogany. It has the three-pedal pedal box for if you want to order one with gears* but they merely didn't bolt the clutch pedal in so there's no BIG BRAKE PEDAL thing going on, just a tiny one and a big gap to the left.

Still, for appearances sake, and to remind you it's a "commercial" vehicle, it has sealed beam headlights and a rubber floor mat but still retains the "THE SAFEST PLACE FOR CHILDREN IS THE BACK SEATS" placard on the sun visor.

Good job, GM

Making me grin (from ear to ear) is meeting a fellow Shiter "today in the flesh" so to speak.

It was literally a five minute lunchtime chat but has really brightened my otherwise ordinary week, Thanks again Micrashed; I owe you one,

if there's one thing better than meeting a local shiter, its meeting a local shiter whose bearing gifts!!

Gone from work prospects looking bleak to an abundance of riches.

Decided to set up my own consultancy doing branding stuff ( thanks to Scruffs input) and got couple of grands work in pipeline plus two phone calls today for interviews. One is a lecturing role and the other thing is working with national citizens project over the summer. Fingers crossed. could be an interesting year :-)

We can always use a source of Eastern European car parts, and even whole cars.  Shouldn't be too bad a road trip, should it?  Especially if one of the young ladies comes along to "navigate..." ;-)

This initially was a grump but became a grin.

I ordered 2 Alpine GTA wing mirrors from a chap on the club website. They came today but not packaged very well at all, numerous carrier bags and a Miley Cirus gift bag were used. Anyway up shot was one got broken in transit but I needed the motor and collar so can salvage it. In the packet there were 2 keys and a note! What could it be?

Shit, do we all need to buy renner 17s now?

May I be the first to request that whoever goes and clears it out they take lots of pictures along the way? Maybe lay all the parts out on a petrol station forecourt and take a PIC?

These wheel trims...

... and this rear screen louvre...

...are of interest to me.  I have a sneaking suspicion that there might be some interchangable bits with the 6 on the 17 but I don't know enough about either to be absolutely sure.

If there's even one of these alloys in the stash I'll be Grabby McGrabbyhands.

I think the compatibility is 12/15/17, not 4/5/6.

Upgrading a 12 with 17 suspension stuff gives it Gordini stance, guess how I know etc etc.

fucking yes! Was getting worried that no one was going to them and they'd stopped doing it.....(well, the first part is true)
