What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Yes but I'm rubbish at fitting mods like that. My parents gave me money to buy an intermittent wiper kit for the 2CV in about 2004. I don't think I've yet admitted that I haven't got around to buying the kit yet, let alone fit it!

Unfortunately I do. But on balance, that's a good thing.

+1.

It's not that unfortunate though, there's enough keyboard Conans in the world, so ignoring one or two of them is no hardship.

I've had seven P6s, of which three had working intermittent wipers - and one of those packed up after a short while.  It can't be that difficult to wire in a modern(ish) electronic relay though, rather than relying on the vacuum-operated bollocks?

My Fiat Uno had intermittent wipers, well, they worked intermittently.

Yesterday was a halloween raffle at work, and one of the prizes was 6 driving lessons. No use to me, but still a good prize for a lot of people in the office, so there were a fair few hopefuls. About 30 min before the draw an email goes round from the bosses apologising profusely that they were actually jiving lessons. I didn't win anything in case you were wondering

Sorry if I'm behind the curve with this and everybody else already knows this, but apparently the Saab 9-3 is to be relaunched (sort of)

Interestingly - and perhaps in a sign of what went wrong in the first place - on the website, amongst a load of mugshots of company bigwigs responsible for various things, appears this:

Maybe they really look like that? The Swedes are odd.

Why do high-powered CEOs of various companies just seem to all look the same? Like the 2 geezers above for example. Random looking, slightly baggy looking people? Everytime I've worked somewhere, these high-powered, highly paid CEOs always seem to look like that.

Since the forum has been split I don't even need my ignore member list, none of them post in this bit.  Makes me very happy.

I post in both, but I agree with you...just the other way round

Back in the early summer of 2012 i pulled on the drive in my modern turned to talk to the kids and pick something out of the passenger foot-well,lifting my foot of the foot brake, but no handbrake on.The car rolls forward hitting the corner of the garage wall,oh fuck

The damage is minimal to the front bumper but as the car is only a year old and as i haven't had a bump before in 20+years i stupidly rang my old insurance company for advice,i didn't claim and just put the car into the local body shop.£70 later as good as new.

Forward to this afternoon phone rings,a claim company.

Mr ? you have had a accident in the last 24 months you can claim

How do you know was my answer

Insurance company came the answer

Well it was my car,my drive, my garage wall so who do i claim from?

Well yourself came the answer.

To this i put the phone down

Well done Tayne,  I had a similar success with an electric heater the other week.

One of the  two resistance wires had snapped,  as they are spirals I hooked them back together and it worked but the join was glowing yellow hot where the resistance was higher.  I dabbed some solder on (being careful not to put 240v up my arm) and all was well.

It would have been a grin but I melted the varnish on the dining table while testing it which Ms C wasn't best pleased about.

All CEOs are lizard people, if you pull the rubber masks off their heads they become even more similar.

I didn't realise you could just go and buy a post office counter on eBay. Suppose I assumed the PO owned them.

$(KGrHqJ,!rQFJJNvHbsiBSWp)Re+nw~~60_12.J

And it's only £750! I might buy it and set it up in the garage, save me walking to the village to post parcels.

A Casio Ce-2300 Turbo Intercooler Cash Register

The straight faced way this is listed as a Casio Turbo Intercooler makes me wonder if the seller doesn't realise that badge isn't original.

This is great! You can plan post office robberies without having to leave home! This of course will negate the need for a Mk2 Transit/Bedford CF/stolen Ford Sierra getaway vehicle though.

I'd like to advertise a specialised Post Office counter removals service, £40 flat rate to anywhere in the country, I'd rock up in a huge Luton boied truck and throw open the rear doors to reveal a sheet of perspex with an inch wide slot blocking passage and then demand 3 grand.

Bloody bolt that holds the front section of the exhaust on the Visa was so rusty the thread pretty much dissapeared when i undid it. Therefore i cant do it back up now the new section is on :(

Car is not at my house so no other bolts that are suitable so will have to try and get one tomorrow. So am still not quite on the sodding road. Much dissapointment. Nice day for a drive too.

Tesco veg oil £1.00 per litre in 3 litre bottles, better still two 5 litre bottles for £9.00.

My inline fuel heater is still on the white Discovery so this afternoon's job is remove from one and fit to another.

This video is by a local artist. She's gorgeous, but the main attraction of this video is actually the amount of Shite in it! Datsuns, Montegos and more. Wait for it as about two-thirds of the way through, the shite really starts flying (if you'll pardon the expression).

That's a decent offer. Last time I went the best deal was two of the five litre ones for a ten spot, so any saving is a good one.

If you want to rob a post office now you'll have to get in line behind the government.

I have just been chatting with a French female student friend of mine who has now gone up 614% in my estimation.

She has just had to travel the length of France to return home after visiting her parents and decided that instead of getting the train, it would be cheaper and more fun to buy a shonky 200Euro Astra and drive back. She is going to leave the car at her sister's house nearby, so that if and when I get to France for some winter work, it will be available for me to use.

She has also just put a bid in for an old ambulance that she plans to bodge-up and use to tour Europe in next summer.

And she likes BL tat.

I definitely think the next step is getting her to sign up for Autoshite.

Reading a project blog I came across a new name for filler:  Restoration Paste.  I like that, I think I may use that from now on.

I love that post office counter for sale. I've hatched a plan to just set it up somewhere so I can be rude and obnoxious, dish out incorrect info and then pull down the "position closed" sign halfway through a conversation.

Of course, I can't get real stuff so I'd have to improvise. I reckon there's a certain charm to tax discs drawn in crayon, and foreign currency done in a photocopier.
