What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I thought that was all football fans as well? Not that the prima donna footballers would ever associate in any way with the great unwashed on the terraces in any way that they would consider themselves and the fans to be a single entity that could be addressed as 'we'.

Posted

What scares me, as a Scotsman, is that this Capello chap seems quite useful... His approach reminds me of Sir Clive Woodford's on the run-up to the successful England Rugby World Cup win.

Just the way they refer to the club as "we" makes my piss boil.

All football fans do that don't they? As if they have any control over the eleven overpaid foreigners running around after a ball.
I support Crewe Alexandra. For several seasons I have strenuously avoided any suggestion that what happens on the pitch is anything to do with me.

:lol::lol::lol:

Dario Grady is the longest serving league manager now isn't he? I'm sure he's been in his job longer than Ferguson?

Crewe to their credit have had some fantastic players through their books over the years and I used to quite enjoy the 'Cheshire derby' many moons back*.

Sporty-shite/Pete M: were you working there (Bumpers Lane) when the scrapyard over the road caught fire?

Bastards (scrapyard, not SS and Pete!) cost me a night's wages at DMA (auctions) round the corner.

*Except the one where they beat Chester 8-0 or something daft

Me & Skyway were having this exact conversation last Sunday......

And when did you last see rival F1 fans having a fight outside a pub?

is this the 'what makes you smile thread'sorry I have no understanding of football.

I used to work virtually next door to Chester City on Bumpers Lane.

Adeva? I used to work there.
Yup. I wasn't there long, I think I was considered a tad too abrasive by people who didn't want to do too much work, and a lot too Scouse by Steve Cooke. I was sent there 'to sort out a couple of Bolshy drivers' on behalf of their manager. Problem was, I thought they were ok, they seemed to think I was ok because I didn't mind mucking in and cleaning cars, doing deliveries etc - ok, I was still some Scouse cunt from the office but I was fair with them.I quit eventually because I wanted to MOT my Sierra Estate and couldn't get an afternoon off to do it. Wasn't gonna commute for a week without an MOT..

The fans at Bathurst fight so much that authorities have restricted their booze.
When was the last F1 race at Bathurst?? :?

Small world! You must have gone there after I left. I was sent in after Cooke bought the place from Gary Pickford, and funnily enough, my brief was to "sort out". Quite enjoyed it there, TBH, a lot less hassle than Atherton, although that was only because you were away from the shit, rather than the shit not happening!Billy, I wasn't there when the scrapyard caught fire, cos I'd been "sent back" to Atherton, although I was told about it. Apparently, one of our lot didn't want to close up, even though it was nigh on impossible to breathe! Sound familiar, Pete?

^^^^^^^^^^If headlights get any longer well be able to clean them leaning out the door whilst driving , does it look left and right for you in the dark

Or are you asking sarcastically and implying that despite both being circuit-based, four wheeled motorsport they are in no way similar?

Well, I guess I am being a bit sarcastic as I don't believe there has ever been an F1 race at Bathurst and that F1 fans are in no way similar to Bathurst fans! There are currently only 2 manufacturers for the Bathurst race and it is very well known that as an 'aussie' you are either a ford or holden fan. With the good weather and the aussie liking of beer it's hardly surprising there is fighting.

Must say football makes me smile. Even more so that this season I have something to smile about thanks to King Billy... :shock:8) Also, I was in HMV in Darlington today and picked up a box set of all the series of M*A*S*H for 50 notes. Tescos have been selling James Bond films for £2 (good ones with Roger Moore). Result= me and my mate drinking Polish lager and watching them in an Alan Partridge style 'James Bondathon'.Doesn't get any better than that! :D

Class.

Exactly! I think every rail preservation society ought to get/make one :D
The mind boggles! A wonderful, yet wonderfully hairbrained idea :) I see enough poor drivers with only road rules to worry about without giving them railway rules to deal with too!

I love to think that somebody somewhere in the past thought 'this could be the future'........

On a similar note last year, I started getting the BFI's sets of the output of 'British Transport Films' on DVD. They've just released Vol 9 and apparently there are lots more in the archives.

They are fantastic.

Autoshite highlights are two wonderful colour films from the late sixties;

Motorsport tries Motorail

and

Give your car a holiday

http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/2533

There is top class British & Foreign chod in both.

I recommend all the BTF films, they take you back to another time.

I was talking to a guy today who works for an animal waste processing firm, and it's not just dung they deal with. They produce tallow form animal fat. The really good stuff can be used in cosmetics. Poor quailty stuff gets sent for being turned into biodiesel. What made me smile is the thought of a vegan filling up with bovine biodiesel - does this make me evil?:twisted::twisted:

What's made me happy this weekend is finding a NOS Sachs rear shock for the Carlton for £7.50 on t'Bay. Then getting it fitted in about half an hour with no seized bolts or other buggering about. If only car repairs were always this easy...
