What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Just makes me wonder how some people manage to get through the day

So do Rover P6s. Variable, too.

Aye, but the BMW's work. I've had half a dozen P6s, and only one of them had working intermittent wipers - and they buggered up the first time I tried to alter the delay. Plus, if we're being pedantic, only the Series 2 P6s had the intermittent feature, and they came out in 1970 - two years after the E3.

my 1970 scimitar had intermittent wipers, but thats because the switch was dodgy

Yes, you can have this clothes airer I was about to throw out (on health and safety grounds)

Spent yesterday evening driving this around Westminster

It's a C63 AMG and it's awesome. But the shitemonger deep within has me wondering how it'll be in twenty years time.

It'll be fine. I'll be taking my chances with it.

I was in Leeds today, and was sat in the Cavalier at a set of lights on the inner loop road. The guy in the car next to me rolled down the passenger window and asked "Do you drive that every day?". He was suitably impressed and mentioned he'd just bought a Capri. :D:D

I had similar on my way to work in the Triumph this morning. A yummy mummy in her Nissan Puke gave me a nice smile & wave and pointed the car out to her little boy who also had the smiling & waving urge. Cheered up an otherwise foggy, drab journey :D

Just applied for a new job that will mean I am finally finanically ok if I get it. Fingers crossed.

If I get it I will be after one of these:

Any thoughts/experiences? (apart from the obvious HGF).

Can't use the Transit to get to work as it has a flat tyre (and no fuel), the Cortina's out of ticket and awaiting time to do the required tinkering, the Suzuki GS has an electrical issue and is now laid up with the other 2 dead 80's commuter bikes. Mrs. www's daily Leon has a broken window on the offside front door which also doe's not lock and the 2 rear doors can not be opened at all. With the weight of all this on my mind I went to work on my Raleigh racer and the pedal feel off  You gotta laugh about it, bicycled failed outside a decent pub too so I was happy enough.

I'd go diesel personally. Strong engine and good tune up mods available. I don't really like the Mk2 facelift, but then (V6 aside) I always preferred the ZR.

I'm not sure if this should be in grumpy, grin or stupid question, but......

Does anyone know a good way of removing flypaper adhesive from a kitten?

Posted

That's got to be Question Of The Week! There should be some form of trophy for you. Poor kitty, what happened?

Posted

It's all my wife's fault.....

First, she adopted a cat that had 4 kittens. She kept 3 of them.

Second, she hung a flypaper in the back of the kitchen cupboard to catch the flies that land on the vegetables.

Third, (ok, maybe my fault...) someone left the cupboard open....

The kitten came upstairs wrapped in flypaper. The paper came off fine, the adhesive however is all over and it's a rather fluffy kitten (normally  )

Truck wash? *

When one of our dearly departed cats was a kitten he got in the cupboard and walked across the upturned lid of the family chip pan. Of course the lid flipped round and he fell into the fortunately stone cold veg oil  I was in the bath at the time so guess who got the pleasure of cleaning the moggy.

*Seriously kids, don't try this at home.

In the bath is a serious prospect, however. It's unlikely to be as messy as the time one of the cats was sitting in the (still warm) grate when we had a soot fall.. we had a black cat as well as a tabby but were confused as to why the black one was leaving footprints for a second..

As an added bonus, this was the 10,000th post in the Grin thread.

Today my life has improved for I have just watched Birdemic and Fatal Deviation.

If you have not heard of these masterpieces of fim making, well that is only because their limited budgets meant they were snubbed at the Oscars and denied widespread cinematic release. In fact their respective directors rebelled against Hollywood conventions. Many directors hire real actors, get a scriptwriter, use more than one camera and hire a sound engineer. Well you will not see any of that here. This is real

Birdemic is the story of birds that are driven to attack people due to global warming. The epic moments of silence bring back memories of Mallick and Kurosawa. Such is the actor's resolve and focus on the role a few people have accused them of being wooden. The scene where our heroes use coat hangers to fight off their aggressors brings to mind the dramatic finale of Battleship Potempkin.

Fatal Deviation meanwhile is Ireland's first, only (and therefore best) martial arts movie. This was written, directed, edited and produced by James Bennett, who also took the role of lead actor, which is a sure fire sign of quality. With no outside interference he was free to bring his dream to life. Again, this is a case of using real experienced people, not just a bunch of blokes at the local pub and gym. Lines such as "you killed my son, now I'm going to kill you, just as I killed your father" would put Orson Wells himself to shame.

Expand your mind with the following samples. Be warned you may not be able to take the level of awesomeness that lies within:

I've seen Birdemic.

The last time I laughed so hard, it was when a white Range Rover Sport missed a corner and got stuck in a peat bog then spun all four wheels trying to get out. With open windows. All over the pikey passengers.

Yeah, I did laugh.

TBH, my cat always seems to make me smile when I'm feeling like crap. As I live in a flat I have to take him 'walkies' on a lead, which he seems to enjoy. Just saying the word makes him go all giddy & soppy.

That reminds me - this made me grin. I recently got Goldie Lookin' Chain's new album, and there's a song on there celebrating the unshaven haven. The chorus goes:

#Some like it smooth, some like it rough

but all I want is a Seventies muff#
