Same thing when disc brakes started to become common in the 60s.

Mu eldest lad has just bought a Cupra that is driving him round the bend.  He spends about five minutes before driving to turn off all the clever stuff that is actually dangerous.

When I was driving demonstration vehicles, I usually got in and went along the dash, "Turn that off, turn that off, turn that off...." Ad infinitum.

I'm driving this bloody car, not you , computer🤬

I'm supposed to have some similar crap on mine but it isn't intrusive.

The stop/start has only come in a couple of times when my son has been driving.  Easy to turn that off though.

I had my dad's enyaq do that to me on the m11. I now drive it with my foot hovering over the pedals as I don't trust it, which then starts to ache after a while so I just drive it 'manually' and make it beep and get cross at me which gets ignored.

Its mildly amusing in familiar roads as it still slows itself for corners but far slower than I usually take them... Can drive miles down B roads without touching any pedals

I should go bicycling more often - took the Lexus RX for MoT and tyres this morning, and for logistical reasons it was easier to cycle back as I can then take Master SL's Celica there later on as he also needs two tyres. Coming up out of the village just a mile or two down the road from ours I saw an H-reg Maestro on someone's driveway! Looks like a low-spec model with metal bumpers, but has alloys - I think I saw it on the road a few weeks ago, but didn't realise it was so local to me. I drive the same road several times a week but have never seen it there before.

Here's a video of an 81 year old man out for a Sunday drive with his granddaughter in his classic Escort.

Spent the weekend marshalling at the McRae Stages rally at weekend, what an event!

Entrants included Gwyndaf Evans, Dario Franchitti, Chris Hoy amongst UK rally regulars. Alister McRaes son Max won overall for his first rally win, there couldn't be a better place to do it!

Have some pics. The mighty Kangoo wasn't entered, that wouldn't be fair on the others 🤣

It shouldn't make me grin, but it does. Driving it yesterday (when it worked) was so sublime. It has many flaws yet I still love it.

On both occasions when it broke down, I had positive comments about it from passers by. It does look good washed. Now, hopefully I can breath some life back into it and make it a nice car again, in fact, new logo (mianca). Anyone make hats?

I think it’s the bridge that was on the old £5 note.

Not car related, a few months back I joined the local pub’s darts team, first time I’ve thrown arrows with any kind of seriousness for 12-13 years.

It was the league’s pairs KO last night and given both my regular playing partner and me had been playing like absolute crap all season (both with a 3-dart average of 21 in the pairs) and a very shaky first round we ended up winning the tournament for our division, much to the annoyance of the guys and girls who’d whooped our behinds all year.

Last bit of darts tat I won was 2011-12 division runners up and triples KO winners. Singles KO next week. Hopefully I will find my old form again!
