I was thinking of using a glove puppet next time I have to use the camera in Skype meetings. Or I'm sure I could get a string or something to work Carruthers' jaw

You could always take a quick video of Carruthers and play it back in front of the video (with backgrounds turned on).

One guy in the ‘office’ has one of those googley finger puppet monsters with wavey arms in front of his camera.

My history teacher was called Mr Carruthers! I think he died a few years ago. Hopefully it's not the same one!

These are from someones "How to guide" on repairing scuttle rot. He's filled the whole thing with expanding foam and fillered over it. I don't think the wiper mechanism will have room to move, he's just literally spunked tins full of it up from underneath

I feel sorry for whoever buys that next and cuts in or starts trying to weld near that "fix"

For some reason people are commending him for "keeping it on the road" but all he really needed to do was put a bit of duct tape over the hole to keep the rain out.

He's done the same all over the back lower corners and in structural areas so I'd be pretty surprised if it sees another MOT let alone another owner.

It reminds me of the fix I did on my cortina in 1995. I big rock smashed a hole in the rotten floor right at the point the floor meets the a pillar.

Water, dead hedgehogs and all kind of shit was splashing up through the floor so I bought a tin of fibre glass filler,  took an old rugby sock and covered the sock in as much fibre glass as a could then balled it up and rammed it in the hole. When it went off it was hard as a rock and kept my feet dry for a good 3 months. Needless to say my Dad wasn't impressed when I eventually convinced him to weld it up for me and he had to try to excavate it from the floor.

My moggy from 5 years ago just popped up on fb. I wonder if it's still going. I remember bleeding the brakes. The brake fluid resevoir was under the drivers carpet for some reason. Ridiculous idea.a4100e806b151bf8001c7f545c7831d7.jpg

My old v70 did the pulling as well

Must still be plodding on then. I paid £250 for it off a mate as it hadn't run for a few years. I got it up and running fittied new brakes and took a £650 offer on ebay.

Quite ironic, given that the Tintin series have been seen in some quarters as racist, amongst other sins

Tintin was of its time.  Tintin in the Congo, for instance, was written 90 years ago.  Although I appreciate that that is neither here nor there for those who choosed to indulge in the popular 21st Century pastime of generational chauvinism.

Herge made up for it quickly afterwards with the Blue Lotus & the next few stories had anti-nationalist messages barely hidden.

Is it just me who hasn’t the slightest clue what any of that means, including the photo?

I'm not familiar with the character, but I do know the whole cosplay thing is very big business; participants take it incredibly seriously and whole livelihoods are supported in this type of industry.

Yes it's been one of my hobbies for the last few years, being interested in Japanese culture helped me get into it.

If that sounds like I’m sneering it’s not meant to. I can see how that would be fun.
