What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Go have a dig around on Aminet and the web in general, there's a lot of abandonware available these days.

Annoyingly two programs I've not been able to find are FinalWriter and Wordworth 5. Both of which I originally paid for, but no longer have the keys for. FinalWriter I did find...but it's a German install which is less than entirely helpful!

I think I have a copy of Word Perfect for my A500, no idea if the discs will still be readable now though.

For the first time since I got together with Mrs Dustman, I've at last driven her car (Toyota) with some decent tyres on it.

It has transformed the way this little car drives and it now sticks to the road like it should. Falken tyres, not the cheapest but not the most expensive, with good wet, noise & economy ratings. I’ll give a full review after a month or so.

Also very impressed with the service from Tyres on the drive dot com.

That new John Lewis bohemian rhapsody advert put a smile on my face

Whoa whoa whoa.

Just seen this. I can forgive the kids "singing" but they've chopped bits out of the song to fit an advert break so you're singing along in your head and they skip forward five seconds, or cut out a pause.

Never shopping at JL again. Bastards.

Put new wipers on the Princess, a mere £10 for a pair, and there's few things more satisfying.  Side-peg arms are still really annoying, but since I can still get standard non-aero wipers that fit, there's no need to give myself the headache of trying to convert to hook fitting just yet.

I boycotted John Lewis years ago because of their adverts. Not that I ever went before.

Used silver carbon effect sticky back plastic on the bumper of the V70. Just chucking a few offcuts in the bin and realised the pattern looks a bit like gaffer tape. Proper AS repair there.

The Mrs cooked me liver & bacon in onion gravy for my dinner with mushy peas. She hates liver and mushy peas.

Mrs dustman has also done gardening on her own volition. And given the house a from top to toe clean, dusting and vacuuming.

Mrs Dustman has bought me a bottle of port and presented me a glass with some cheese & biscuits.

Either my luck's in tonight, or she's after something.

My mates wife reckons their milkman has shagged every woman bar one in their street. He thinks it’s the miserable cow at 34.

How do you not realise you have lost a brake pad, I was taking out the waste bags at work and noticed this brake pad backing that was virtually ground through on the floor of the small private carpark, I had to get my phone to take a picture

It's quite scary really that these people are driving the streets but it did make me laugh

Mine or hers? She doesn't drive mine. She doesn't trust it.

With the support I've given the stepdaughter recently (she's had some major issues I won't divulge here) I think it's a reward. I've never seen a milk float down my road, and the postman is a miserable old bugger.

I foresee a trip to some faraway town to collect some pile of old shit she's bought on eBay and not told me about.

TBH I'd have been just as happy if I'd cooked my own liver & bacon. Awesome dinner.

When I was last in the US we were given a Nissan Pathfinder as our rental.

I really really wanted to have it...but after two and a half weeks with it had to grudgingly admit that it was a lovely comfy big barge to waft around in, went far better than something that size and weight has any right to, and even managed to return low 30s MPG (UK). 7-seat version too which made it really versatile.

We all agreed that if we were shopping for a new car here that it definitely would have been on the list for very strong consideration.

I've only ever had one rental car in America that wasn't made there.  That was a Kia Forte in 2015, which was roughly equivalent to a 2.0 Mondeo I think.  It was ok, adequate for knocking around Cape Cod for a couple of days, but if we'd been doing any real distance I would have been looking for something bigger and home-market.  I can drive a Nissan or Kia back home.  I go to America to drive proper American cars!  Hence on that trip the RV was a Ford F350 and the other two rental cars were a Chevy Tahoe and a Chevy Suburban.  Much more like it!

Another vote for tyres on the drive. Fitter told me they are not allowed to use the windy gun to tighten nuts and did it properly and even set them to the correct torque.
