I'm another year older today and I have spent it welding my capri in the sun, I really couldn't think of anything better to do, ive done the part ive been dreading, repairing the roof by the hinge as it had grot in, but it all went swimmingly I was expecting major warpage of the panel but it's not warped badly at all, I also welded the battery tray support back on as well, I did manage to break my co2 regulator but hey ho even replacing that ive saved more money than buying hobby bottles

Happy birthday! Now please come and weld my car :-)

Got a call today, I've only passed the interview for the job I've wanted for years!

I always promised myself something truly special if I did get this job. Now I can actually start deciding what I want...

Took the Beetle out for a lovely drive this afternoon. 60 miles no issues made even better by fixing the stereo and enjoying some 90's Brit pop.

Going to take it to work tomorrow, down side is list of jobs to do seems to be getting longer.

YES!  Use them, that's what they're for!   :)  Huggy will be going to work with me three times this week, as he did last week.  Only 4 miles each way but so worth it!

I'm using my 58 rover P4 for work as it's being reliable* I'm managing 200+miles a week in it

Got my weedeater running properly after fitting a new carburetor, got it all set up, tidied the yard up all smart.

Aftermath was pine needles and grass all over the driveway so I went looking for leaf blowers.

Wife went pay the guy who we get to cut grandmother's and mother in law's yards, he said he had one I could have because it didn't run any more.

Cleaned the blocked fuel tank vent, adjusted the throttle cable, set the mixtures, cleaned the plug and the thing basically blew the entire yard away. 150 mph, 560cfm. Thing is a beast.

This is why I don't trust the "professionals", they were the last people to lay hands on it.

Phil

Edit: found the manual and the reason it's a KAT is it's German and has a catalytic converter. I didn't think 2-strokes could have a catalytic because of the volume of oil they burn?

People treat equipment like that as white goods; I scored a domestic grade husqvarna strimmer out of my neighbour's skip(he was clearing the shed prior to moving and he said 'help yourself' when he saw me eyeing up all his rubbish the useful things) a few years ago; the tossbags who loosely assembled it had used the wrong, too long screws to hold the barrel on, they bottomed out in the holes preventing a proper clamping pressure and as a result the gasket providing the seal had eventually given up the unequal struggle and disintegrated. 5 minutes with a grinder to shorten the screws, a Kellogs' gasket and plenty of goo later it fired up and is still shredding weeds today.

Edit to add; fine pogweaseling there.

Never used by anyone else bar me for 5 years, almost binned in our office move as it wouldn't fit in a crate so the moving company wouldn't move it. I personally put it in the car and drove it over to the new place cos I felt bad about binning fugging £240 worth of kit. Then into a cupboard and used maybe twice in the 2 years we have been here.

Suddenly it's wanted, and the snotty emails from a different part of the business start as apparently it was funded by them and us. Was it? Well fucking come and get it then! (plus other office politics bollocks that I won't go into here, which culminated in a sorry email) I now have a nice empty shelf in a cupboard that again I only really use so win there, I might start storing hoover stuff in it.

I guarantee that in a few days I'll be asked how to use it, because again no one knows how. I'll be busy that day/time

There are a lot of people about who really shouldn't be allowed outside without Nurse's say so.

Because despite the best efforts of ~3 billion years of evolution, the enlightenment and near-universal education, many people are windowlicking morons who should not be allowed to breed, never mind be allowed anywhere near complicated mechanisms like bonnet catches.

To be fair when they put the washer fluid in it probably didn't say oil on the filler cap. (It might have said 710 though)

Had an amazing curry with a few mates tonight, and to make it even better it was a three courses for £9.95 night. Could it get better?

That's arguable, I am sure there are instances where the AA saves lives e.g getting people off the hard shoulder.

That said I wouldn't compare them to the RNLI and that advert really pissed me off at the time, when you see the volunteers of the RNLI go out in appalling weather to rescue some berk on their shitty yacht who should have stayed on the Broads then you see the best of humanity in my opinion (and not in terms of the owner of said yacht!).

I work for the RNLI, so cheers for that. It made my day.

I don't do anything brave like the crew and lifeguards but I work like a dog to do my bit.

You are welcome :-) it's a fantastic organisation and one of the real gems of this country. EVERYONE who works or volunteers for them deserves our thanks.
