What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I was asked to arrange a car display at the local college today, I'll put a post up shortly on here in the News24 thread once I've got the babe to bed but one of the lads displaying brought a Volvo 66 and this DAF 66 along and asked me if could help him run the DAF back home a few miles away for him, i didn't need asking twice!

It's a 66 Super DL with an aftermaket 1.3 Marathon engine fitted, it's the first one I've driven and it was great! It felt like the clutch was slipping and it felt strange that it never changed gear but they are really easy to drive and pretty nippy. Ace!

I'm just grateful, the leg of your shorts isn't facing the camera!

In other news , I'd forgotten how attractive a late P38 on Hurricanes in a nice colour and without the usual Council accoutrements is.

I have also been DAF driving today - ran my 66 up to the garage for its MOT tomorrow.  It's the longest drive it's done this year (13 miles) but it seemed happy enough.  As it was a nice day I shoved my bike in the back and cycled home.

I'd be interested to have a go in a Marathon - would imagine the 1289 engine gives a useful bit of extra go.  I've always wondered how long the belts would last with a 1397cc turbo from a R5 Gordini shoehorned in...

The owner said there wasn't really a lot of difference in it, he explained this one had a twin carb so you put your foot down, lift it up slightly and then floor it again to open up the second carb, it felt nippy enough to me. He was also saying that belts are now made from Kevlar so last a lot longer, in 15 years he's only known one to go but then they do go they make a hell of a mess underneath.

That's ace, Fabia VRS wagon that never was - and not black! Hot estates like that are cool, but I can't think of any other than the Focus ST wagons.

Audi RS4 Avant? Vectra VXR Estate? Volvo 850 R? BMW M5 Touring? Mondeo ST24 Estate? Current model Seat Leon FR/Cupra ST?

Admittedly there arent any, and I agree a Fabia vRS estate would be cool as fuck!

I once owned a mug that bore the slogan, "Red sky at night means that Brixton's alight!"

YES!!!!!!  Watching a random episode of 8 out of 10 cats, and we've just had the famous Claudia Moment: "Who's going to breast-feed my children?"  Never gets old....

Two MOTs Two passes!

Volvo with no advises.

E34 520 advise for rear tyres on wear-bars , which is fair enough.

Just realised the E34 hasn't been used for about 2 months, it could be going on the market soon and the funds put into the E30 316 Auto , which my eldest wants to start smoking about in- she used it everyday about 6 years ago, but got a job 50 miles away and it was slow and thirsty on the motorway. Now she works local and my plan to fit anE36 328 engine and box is further away than ever now that E36s are so bloody rare.

Can I register interest in the e34 please?

Bro has an e30 with the m52 2.8. Total weapon!

The e34 may have to step in as daily wheels for MrsN , depending if I sort CLK Cab issues before her Gaylander sells, but your interest duly noted.post-17414-0-86840700-1495555409_thumb.jpeg

Have a picture, that I just took after driving back from MOT, a very flattering picture, because you can't see the dull bonnet .

My 6 year old male black lab had sex with my customers female dog the other week, he's now fell in love with our male cat, he's been licking and sniffing him and he pines for him if he's jumped up on a surface or fence.
