Work fucked me over and so I had to go to Wales. Now it was my first time into Wales so I was expecting goat paths and sheep as soon as I got to the border.

The A55 road that goes along the coast to Bangor is a fantastic sight.

The A5 is much more fun. Oh & as this is AS, has a motor museum on.

A nice chap in Blackpool has bought £200 worth of dice valve caps. He must be anticipating a bit of theft.

Triggers broom ?

Amazingly, no.

It's needed the usual shitloads of work, it is a Solihull product after all. But most of it is the same car I bought :-)

^^ Try real ale. Lager is for those who don't know better (it's the renault of the booze world).

And rosé is the Fiat 500.

That reminds me of the time I tried to hitch a lift out of Rhyl.

That'll be because everyone wants to get out of Rhyl.

Nah, more like coconut water and white rum. Heresy, I know, but I spent a very happy month in this while my first 205's inurance claim was being sorted.

Just a Panda in a posh frock for sure, but I liked it. But maybe I'd have been mollified by anything after a week in the hateful shitbox that is the Audi A1.

And make it a requirement that every school child can sew a button on and cobble a shoe

I don't need to sew buttons- my mum does it far better :-) she also turns the collars on my best shirts ( when I ask), and shortens trousers bought too long in the sales. Make do and mend!

No one has ever willingly hitched into rhyl though :-)

The a55 is great- I did 24,000miles in 12 months in a2cv on it. Wrexham to Llandudno daily. I learned...

A. It was 3 minutes faster in my dads brand new bx DTR than by 2cv.

B. If you're not paying attention you end up in Conwy and not Llandudno.

C. When it's snowing really, really hard and you're the only car on the road the Cateyes are a reliable means of finding where the road edge is- not reflecting, just going bump, bump, bump over them.

Oh and d. When there's a huge bang and rattly metal noises from the engine don't try and push the car uphill

To the next lay by, but roll it backwards downhill to the slip road. Doh!

Nice chap picked me up though ( no not like that!). Beaver tail truck driving back to Chester and dropped my back in Wrexham for £50 ( I had no breakdown cover, even after that for 5 years).

I spent several memorable days taking my recovery truck with KFW's Nissan Bluebird on the back up Rhuallt Hill on the A55.

This is true - I was stuck there because I fell asleep on the M5 and the guy I'd hitched a lift with didn't wake me until he got to rhyl. It took all day to get back out, and the lift I managed to get was only going to Colwyn Bay.

Colwyn is great compared to Rhyl. Now anyway. Nice pub at old colwyn looking over the bay. The pen y Bryn.

Whilst I'm on the subject of north wales pubs ( did I mention I'd had a brandy at 5pm?) friends of my parents run a pub in ruabon - the bridge end. Camra uk pub of the year in 2011. They have their own micro brewery ( McGivern ales) and are walking distance from the train station.

Went into my local Skoda dealership today, to see if they had a Kodiak, apparently not till November.

Anyway , one of the salesmen starts reading the spec off the website , just in case I either can't read or am unable to use a computer ,I suppose.

The grin?

When reading the engine specs he kept saying Nano Metres, I of course could barely keep a straight face and was going to ask him to explain torque to me , but felt it would be too cruel.

Yup, he sat for 4 days in a spot where it was not safe to stop ,locals told him to go to a better spot but he only gave them abuse, then hissy fit. He destroyed a number of road signs and police were called and just lay on the road and may have told them to F..... off. Handcuffs were produced then. Charged with destroying said signs and released on bail.

Astonishing coincidences. You appear to live up the road from me and I once lived in Ruabon. (And Coedpoeth which was much nicer) Still married to a girl from Llay.
