It's great seeing police cars on the motorway when you're in a 2CV. You can keep your foot to the floor in full knowledge that you can pass everyone who's just slammed their brakes on without being in much danger of exceeding 72mph.

A smashing evening with some mates and then a drive home down country roads in the dead of night.

Bloody brilliant.

I finally got around to completing the fix on my broken vacuum pipe last Monday, on my V70.

All connected up, started up, EML light stayed on. Bugger. Fed up with seeing the light on, been there since I bought the car.

Oh well, I suppose I'd better get someone to put it out for me.

Used the car for work all week.

Friday morning, jumped in the car to come home from work, fired her up, light went out on its own. Result.

I had a feeling the old Volvo would need to have a think about the repair, and so it turned out.

Strange having a nice normal dash.

Thanks to Krujoe for the part he supplied, the final piece of the jigsaw.

Very true, on a similar theme I don't understand people passing speed cameras, they think if they are in lane 1 they have less chance of getting flashed, so they brake and pull into lane one and drive at 43mph, as I've been travelling at 50, I indicate out and pass them and the camera at 50 and pull back in, I ain't braking for nobody dagnammit

tdPopped out in the XM this afternoon to wake it from its slumber prior to being collected on saturday, and fuck me it was lovely. Spent the afternoon regretting my decision to get rid of it but then realised why when it said I lost 40 miles of fuel in 22... It felt soooo lovely compared to the ZX, felt like I was sitting in the middle of the car, everything was so far away!

I think a period of mingebaggery with the ZX is in order, then when financial situations improve a bit (hah!) a nice 2.1td hatch is in order, or a Xantia 1.9td...I think I'm turning into a closet wafty citroen fan, the prospect of the rear shocks needing changing in the ZX worries me more than needing to change a sphere or something!

7 weeks into couch to 5k and I did my first "parkrun" on Saturday. Parkrun is a free 5k run every Saturday at various places in the UK, except north Wales ot seems, so I went to one while visiting the rents.

Got my pace a bit wrong so had to walk a little bit (so annoyed at myself) but managed to get in a time of 28.22. They give loads of stats with the results: I was 223 of 425 runners, 56th female and 9th for the 30-34(f) age range.

I am chuffed and really want to go again, hope one starts up round here soon! Also lost loads of weight over the last couple of months so I am feeling great. Going to celebrate with cake obvs.

"Hey mum, you really must visit A and E in Blackpool, get yourself down the garden and step on the rake. Blooming great they are..... You must go etc etc....

Anyway, it's apparently summer, so i'm glad to share this with you, from a musician i've great admiration for, Jon Poole, ex-Cardiacs, Wildhearts, Goddamn Whores....don't worry, it's not shouty, it's a bit Beach-Boys, bit pschyadelic, but all good, easy pop. Give it a listen, it's GR854.

Just seen an episode of Bergerac, shite spotting paradise!

Montego Police cars,Toyota Cressida taxi, what sounded like a 6 cylinder LT minibus full of Nazi Hunters and a Nazi with a gold Renault 25 TS complete with plastic trims.

And to think I thought it was shit 30 years ago.

In some sort of 'staring at the screen in utter disbelief' moment of lunacy, it seems my lad (21) can insure thirty large's worth of Aston Martin 4.3 Vantage for £2,800.

Maybe, just maybe, his youthful exuberance and crazy plan to put a grand a month aside to buy one might just work. I bloody hope so as I want to be a named driver.

Fuppin ell, if he can put a grand a month away you aren't charging enough board! Think of the corsas you could buy with that!

Was sorting through seom old photos the other day with old_man_Sterling (man, my parents were well stylish in the 80s) when I came across an old paper cutting about when our house was burgled in the late 80s, it contained the reg of my Dad's old Mk2 Cavalier! A391 OJN, the car was nicked in the burglary along with our Video recorder, TV and some other stuff. The car and stuff was eventually found I seem to recall.

Until then, I could never remember the reg of the car, any photos there were of it missed out the number.

A391OJN, a Red Vauxhall Cavalier L hatchback first registered in November 1983 lasted until November 1997. 'JN' denoting a Chelmsford registration.

This is the reason why I have a big soft spot for early Mk2 Cavalier hatchbacks.

By the time he can afford the car he'll be able to insure it with Saga.  :-D

Absolute lunacy. Today I was on the phone to my insurer. I'm 31 and have now discovered that despite having had Classic Insurance previously with them, they count it as NCB. Suppose it makes sense.

However, despite that, to insure me on my 827 Coupe would cost me no less than £1k on a normal comprehensive policy. A classic one, £420. I've still not seen the car yet but I suspect it won't be going to France with me just yet, not this time anyway.

I've just had a missive from the good people at DVLA. Normally this requires expenditure of dosh on my part, however, on this occassion, it was a cheque to me in the sum of £116.66.

Never had money back from the DVLA before... what can I buy?
