What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

Can't get on with that.

It's not so much the use of the Fiasco doors - Bond used Herald units to good effect - but, combined with the rear side windows from the same car, I can't help seeing "early Fiesta with plastic bits wobbed on either end". Which I suspect is NOT what the maker intended...

Man those things are awkward looking. Designer mustve been gutten when he was told he had to use fiesta doors and glass.

Couldnt agree more about the 205. Ace little cars, surely saved Peugeot's arse from boring old cars and the GTi is a gilt edged investment at the moment.

Driven loads of 205s from petrol to diesel and loved them, they're really under rated little cars that are surprisingly well made and mostly good fun to drive.

It looks EXACTLY like a Lotus Excel, only much cooler.

True that, and that one up there is the best Ginasty I have ever seen.

This will leave you scratching your head for a LONG time

Not as entertaining as the 1990s OU play about infinity with the main charachter being played by Susannah Doyle in skin-tight leggings. :D

That's an ace picture, I love that green.

I love the garage name. Rover specialist perhaps?

Biggest con there is having that shit plastered down the side of the Cavalier

I had a set of those Mundano wheels in RWD offset for my Sierra Mk1 Estate 2.1, which was nice.

There WERE some really nice Mondeos, but they seem to have all been Social Services'd to death. The RS kit was a nice one, especially if you avoided Citrine Yellow (the Max Power hue of choice for '96 through '98).

My Nan and Grandads friends from the Dance Club had a Mk 2 Mondeo Ghia X V6 from new, a saloon in graphite with the EZ-Peel chrome wheels. Lovely looking thing, and the old chap kept it mint. Tragically he died and the Mondeo was left sitting there, then his wife went blind and went into a home. The Mondeo was scrapped. It was 12 years old but had only been MOT'd twice.

Sorry, the above doesn't make me grin at all:

Six issues of the Daily Express World Car Guide (1980 to 1986) landing on my desk at work this morning did cause my lips to upturn at the corners, though :-) txtspeaksmilieetc.

What a waste, the Mk1 RST kitted Mondeo has gone from chav chariot to a smart looking car these days, especially with this RS alloys, even the Citrine yellow model looks hot.

Interesting aero-shite documentary for those interested in British military jets. Loved the Harrier part at the end, marvellous plane, shame they've now all been sold for the "better" Typhoons.

Watched that last night around my parents. The Vulcan 558 flypast sounded phantastic through BOSE surround sound.

Sat on a runway perimeter road at Finningley, waiting for 558 to take off!!!

Had a BX Tech Weekend in Ludlow this weekend, courtesy of Catsinthewelder - who it turns out is a rather toppermost chap who like me knows that to succeed in the world, you need a BX and a beard.

Here he is tinkering with the ex-RobT BX - which is really rather nice. Another BXer looks on as in theory those of us who know a bit about BXs were sharing our knowledge.

The weather was not always ideal...

But it was nice to meet up with old friends! My ol' Mk1 is already coming along. The bumper is straighter, the towing electrics work and the switchgear and dashboard illumination has been sorted.

Oddly for car enthusiasts, we decided to do some exercise this morning and climbed Clee Hill which is between Ludlow and Kidderminster. Epic views were our reward.

We then walked to the summit. A good climb and oddly satisfying. It's been a lovely weekend with top people, so yeah, that's making me grin alright! Great to meet catinthewelder and his fleet.

I remember being at an airshow at Middle Wallop (yonks ago) and there was a demo by a Vulcan Bomber, and when it went into afterburner mode directly above us, the earth positively shook!

Although I was there for the helicopters, that Vulcan was utterly amazing.

^ This - mine is the TZD snuggled up between the Tiger and the GT. And yes, that is a fabulous shot which I am totally stealing as it came out so much better than mine of the same view ;P

Thanks to Catsinthewelder for being a super host and Mrs Cats for equally super catering and to Dollywobbler for checking I'd done everything up right (I had, nearly - only a half-turn or so to stop the leaks)

However, this is possibly why girls mostly don't do mechanics:

To check the handbrake cable, it would REALLY HELP if I could get the fucking wheelnuts off (I shall be Having A Word about 65 lb/ft torque with my garage when the car goes in for MOT in a couple of weeks!)
