Sitting in koh tao thailand. My life weighs 20 kg. No car. 10 days of relaxation before the next phase of my life begins in Cambodia. Scary but also excellent

Good stuff. Bet you're currently feeling glad that you didn't follow the Scottish hotel thing up!

Sadly Mr Wobbler that is still part of our life plan. But there is a Bernard shaped hole that needs to be filled.

When we have hotel shitefest 2016 will be on. Please bring your bx!

Seeing Martin Buckley driving an orange NSU Ro80 through Cheltenham this morning :) . It looked like a very good example.

Scoring issues 1-198 of 'Model Auto Review' for a tenner on eBay, which I picked up yesterday as they were only a half-hour drive away. Plenty of reading material there!

Also, rediscovering a forgotten part of my childhood - anyone else remember these?

Italian-made push-together plastic kits of real 70s and 80s chod (this 14TS, Fiat Ritmo, Merc W126, Citroen Dyane and CX, Fiat Uno, Vauxhall Nova, GTV6 and 911 Turbo). The toyshop in my village used to sell them in the early 80's and consequently I built up quite a collection. Can't seem to find much on them on the Web unfortunately. But there appears to be a supply in Malta...

Some in Cyprus too! Unfortunately they are now packed in one of my boxes for shipping, so I'll have to rely on memory. I think I've got the Renault 14, Citroen Dyane, Fiat Uno and a Jeep Cherokee or Wagoneer; and possibly one or two others. Not all are complete and I'm sure I only have a couple of the boxes, but the 14 is among them.

Cheers Autofive, I think these will keep me going long enough! Issue 198 gets me up to sometime in 2005 I think. I think the shop closed down in 2002 by the look of it.

Really easy to drive... I got bollocked for giving it too much beans, which is surprising 'cos I was expecting I'd crawl round all nervous like. After 10 yards it was like a light bulb went on "hang on, these things are squaddie proof. Warp speed mr. Sulu!"

Are these things recommended then, I'm thinking of getting a voucher for my mate's 40th next month.

Bought a dirt cheap Polish branded 3D tele about 9 months ago; finally got around to watching something broadcast in 3D tonight - quite enjoyed it really. Lots of chaps running quickly, but the 3D stuff was a bit distracting.

Tanks are bloody good fun. I did a military driving day about ten years ago. The Abbott Self-propelled gun was ace! A V12 two-stroke diesel with a straight-through exhaust. Fabulous. Drove an Alvis Stalwart that day too. An amphibious, six-wheel drive truck with an eight-cylinder Rolls-Royce engine that regularly backfired. When did military vehicles stop being quite so bonkers?! Not a chance that you could sneak up on the enemy.

Cool. My mate's the size and build of a jockey so he'll have no bother fitting in one.

Meanwhile at the Olympics...

A fairly new kitcar (don't ask me why I was reading those ads, must be my 38th birthday + midlife crisis/masochistic streak coming up).
