What makes you grin? Antidote to grumpy thread

I spend over 5 mintues this afternoon whilst at a show watching 5 people inculding the owner trying to find the bonnet pull on his 2007 Mercedes E-Class, Once they did find it he goes "I've had this since new and never knew it was there!":roll:

I once watched a woman and two 'likely lads' try to get a wheel off a Golf for nearly an hour, and they had resorted to crowbars and feet by that point.

I googled.

The flower shop is no20 and no18 is a vacant building according to street view.

Unless Barnetts was on the corner?

Yeah, it's the now closed Thresher/Drinks Cabin thing that closed down a couple of year's ago! Lol! I was served by my brother's mate's mum! What a memory I have!

Incidentally, there is a lamp post up the road in St Andrew's Church which gave C S Lewis inspiration for Chronicles of Narnia.

Racing: 7/10, pretty good

Weather: 8/10, just one heavy shower

Letting hair down, fantastic company, forgetting worries: billion/10

Just drove past a local garage and spotted the snout of an early Chrysler Alpine! Went back for a gander. Turns out it's been left OUTSIDE on some bloke's drive for 13 years! A couple of the lads in the garage have put it through an MoT - it's still filthy dirty but apart from a somewhat bubbly front wing, seems in very good condition!

I think they're likely to clean it up and sell it so I left my number. Tricky one to value though - rare French stuff is usually worth peanuts. I did take a pic on my camera - the only downside being that I've no idea where my phone-to-PC cable is...

Oooh, I say. That looks nice!

Weird looking headlamp wipers too.

Aye - the headlamps wipers are odd. Brushes! I do want this very badly. If I can get rid of the CX and Westminster, I might have to see how much they want...

But back to grinning, just got the CX back. When it works, it's a bloody marvellous machine.

We need to start a Save The Alpine fund asap! Maybe if we all chipped in a tenner each via Paypal we could get it back on the road.

Alpine is 8)

Headlight wipers were GLS issue I believe.

Well done Vin - it is a 1.5 GLS according to Cartell. Lovely looking beast - and for being left outside since 1997, I don't think it's done too bad.

My son has been given a book by my folks about cars, on our way home he shouted to me wow Dad this car is gorgeous what is a Talbot Tagora? My missus thought he was mad I was dead proud :lol:8)

Are you sure? I've always thought it was the Victorian gaslamps (now listed, history fans!) on the road to Malvern Wells.

Maybe ol' CS travelled a bit! :D

Currently buying all the albums I lost when my old PC decided to fuck up, throwing away over 8000 songs. Its annoying because I keep forgetting what albums I need to buy, but Amazon is providing stupidly useful. Its crazy how cheap you can pick CDs up for, and the choice is unbeatable. Shame that there seems to be some requirement for all CD cases to arrive broken though.

I love listening to Music I havent heard in ages, sounds so much better now too.

Yay for the feckin highways agency! or, at least two of their employees. Thanks to a faulty fuel gauge (and wetherby services wanting £1.25 a litre for diesel) I ran out on the A19 at osmoytherly. In the truck, with a car on the back, and no-one had a phone on them. I ditched the truck in the verge, hopped the barrier and walked to the village (there was a garage there... 20 years ago...) when I got back empty handed there was a patrol waiting for me. I expected some bother, but I got a lift 5 miles to the services and back, loan of a can and they blocked the inside lane while I filled the (offside filler) truck.

Thumbs up guys. Tobermory would be proud of you.

Discovering my boss once ran a fleet of Montego Countryman Ds. For seven years. "Until they were fucked, but they wouldn't bloody die and were amazing on the old fuel".

He is possibly the last person on earth you'd expect to like Montegos. Turns out he's got the Maestro love as well. If I'm still working there at Christmas, I may try and find one.

This makes me happy :) A "Legend" fender copy bass.

Dragged it out of the back of my mates shed yesterday where it had sat for 3 years.

Got it home, cleaned it, changed the strings, and surprise surprise it works!

There's a bit of a crackle on the control pots, but I'll strip it all down at the weekend and give it a good going over. There's a bit of rust here and there and the odd scratch but that's nowt to worry about...

Boroughbridge Morrison's is probably the best bet for future reference so long as it's not after 11PM - it's about 1/4 mile from the A1M, and usually 8-10p cheaper than Wetherby services. For those that need it, it also does LPG.

Was poking around the Laurel today (getting some pictures of the power steering pump) and I found this bizzare replica numberplate:

It appears to have been made out of an old box and some tippex, to be fair the font is all perfect and it's the exact right size. Wrong for the car though, that's a Tokyo plate. Still, ideal for speeding through Japanese speed cameras.
