Other than a dick grape in a Landcruiser driving like a mong on the A55, I had a top time today blezzing up and down in the Amazon. I've forgotten how brilliantly it surges along without actually going very fast.

Started first time, topped up the air in the tyres (OMG LIGHT STEERINGS) and went up to Bangor through the tunnels. Looped back to Conwy, went down the Sychnant Pass and popped out near Penmaenmawr.

Incidentally, there's an ACE antique \ tat shop there with some boss old furniture \ epherma there, where for £3 I picked up this FUGGING ACE item:

I shall be using this to eat my overpriced donuts off when I go to car shows \ BKVs \ Morrisons etc. GR8 TIMES.

Saw Swedish family with twins. Never quite know whether they're taking the piss out of me or not since their English is very good but very selective. Plan to remedy this with some 'while you sleep' Swedish, as at the moment my lexicon extends to:

'Nej' (no)

'Kyckling' (chicken)

'Fiske' (fish)

'Sa natt' (so nice).

As a bonus, I saw Station chugging past the castle as I came back into Conwy. I did a serious double take in traffic when I saw the Whizzkid, put two and two together and concluded that there was only one person it could be, I mean how many SC100s are there left in Gwynedd?

I didn't realise how small they were actually, my Amazon could have OM NOM NOMed it for lunch and kept going.

Here he is very close to my gran's:

Saw this trailer at the cinema tonight

Its set in the early 70 so will be shite-tastic.
I may well watch that, as it is (supposedly) set locally. Also - replacing the horrible manky corrugated plastic on my lean-to with new. Fantastic. Hopefully next door's cats will not curl off loafs onto it as they did previously, thankfully my own cats do not.

Nice to see you enjoying the Amazon, lovely old car :D

Here's a picture I took of it at the Retro Rides meet last year (when I was going round looking for standard, shite cars to take pictures of, I didn't take many :P )

That picnic table thing is great, utterly pointless but great all the same. I want one :)

Today I am mostly grinning about finally getting this old crate running.

I got her sparking a couple of weeks ago but she wouldn't start. After an enjoyable morning spent stripping the carb and cleaning green slime out of the float bowl, I put it back together and, with a good pump on the primer, some vigorous kicking and my hand partly covering the carb mouth as an impromptu choke, she backfired once (fortunately in a relatively benign 180cc kind of a way, not a 650cc break-your-ankle backfire) and then burst into life with a noise like a particularly large and pissed off hornet.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to take it for a ride yet as it won't run without jump leads - the battery is b0rked and it doesn't seem to be charging, so as soon as the leads are removed it dies. I haven't quite figured out how the charging system works yet (not helped by the labels being in Czech), so I haven't been able to find where the problem is, but hopefully it won't be anything terminal. But at least it runs, and it also has a full complement of working lights and indicators, although the horn doesn't work at the moment. Once I've got a new battery for it I shall be taking it for a buzz round the block.

Also making me grin today is finally getting the NSF wheel off the R21 to find that, while the pads are right down to the metal, the disc is almost completely unharmed. £8.90 for a set of pads is far more conducive to grinnage than £55 for a pair of discs.

Glad there's some Amazon love on here (waits for p0g to take that the wrong way).Good news is, despite the OMG SHITROEN woes it's shortly to get a significantly more thrusty engine with an OD box. It'll still look the same though, bar some wider steels. Gonna keep the hub caps though, you can't go wrong with hubcaps,. some decent Konis and prog springs. Other than that, it will look like it looks now.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a camera today, its nothing special but Im sure its capable enough, considering its had rather favourable reviews. The annoying thing is I havent had time to try it out yet, hopefully I will do tomorrow. Also, my phone will be sent to vodafone on Wednesday, but this particular part of this post may soon go into the GOM thread if they fuck around, which no doubt they will. Not really confidence building when the same company bent my mates phone then promptly blamed him!

This article on Sniff Petrol made me chuckle:eBAY CRACKS DOWN ON CAR ADSSniff, Friday, March 26th, 2010 at 3:08 amPosted in NewsA correct eBay ad, yesterdayPopular internet auction site eBay has been forced to reinforce its guidelines for advertising cars following a recent string of complaints about inappropriate and incorrect listings. As a reflection of this new crackdown, earlier this week a handful of eBay car sellers received sternly worded warnings from the auction site’s administrators. One such seller was Jackson Lisbo of Squirrelscock. “I was shocked when I got the warning about the ad for my MX5,” Mr Lisbo said. “They told me the text in my ad was too well written, that it contained no massive chunks of pointless block capitals, and that none of the writing was inexplicably in red. They told me to re-read the guidelines, take some new photos of the car making sure that this time they were out of focus, and then re-list the car. I was shocked”.eBay sources say the company has been forced to launch this crackdown in response to a small band of sellers who still believe the best way to sell a car is to give some actual information about it. “We’re getting tired of these idiots who want to tell you things like mileage, service history, equipment levels and so on,” said one eBay insider. “Until these people learn that the correct way to sell a car on our site is to write ‘BRILENT CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FASTER THNA A FEISTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’ in red Comic Sans and accompany it with one blurry picture of the front three quarter taken at night on a mobile phone, then we have no option but to get tough with them”.

Bought some Hella headlights off Ebay for a Capri (they are going on my BMW) as they are the same part number - while bashing said BMW with assorted tools this afternoon a guy turned up on a motorbike. It was the seller delivering them in person. He used the postage money to get the petrol for the trip as in his words "It's a nice sunny afternoon so why not". :D

Hey, I did a survey on that building a couple of years ago...

I'm pretty sure that was a dealers called "Straight Eight" in my yoof. My best mate lived a little way from there and we would go and ogle the variety of exotica they had in the windows.

No. I had fun looking at the house where my Laurel spent all its life until 2008 and then finding the garage where it was sold new. Gives it a bit of context.

The Western Extension to the London Congestion Charge Zone.Yes, today is one of the few days when this pseudo environmental waste of taxpayers money cheers me up. I have a customer in Notting Hill which was originally outside the zone so I had to be careful whenever I went to his place not to stray down the wrong roads. Now that he's in the zone I've got to pay (or rather he does...) whenever I go there. So rather than head straight home I spent over an hour cruising round the West End in this beautiful weather in my '60s polluting monster. Had one bloke start crossing in front of me while I was sat at the lights by Piccadilly Circus. Pulls his wife back to the pavement then comes up to my window says something along the lines of having seen my car in Retro Cars and that it is "Cool as Fuck!" Better than that though was the pretty twenty something lass who walked out in front of me before being alerted by her friend as I came to a stop. She looked up and her first instinct was to say "Cool Car" I suspect this kinda thing will always make me smile but know at some point it'll make me a dirty old man :wink:I love warmer weather. 8)

A massive 5GB torrent has just finished dumping a collection of old Top Gears from 1989-1993 on to my hard disc. YES!Also, how mint was the Tour Of Britain? Rally cars on racing circuits? AE86 Corollas being thrashed to death in Ireland ( )? Being waved off by the Environment Minister from the R101 hanger in Cardington?I'd give it a go.

I've checked my UCAS application. It seems I've got in at Salford.:D I have till Jun 7 to make up my mind which way I go.Interviews for the new job are next Friday, and I'll get a decision soon after. As this new job is much better paid, and will get me some professional qualifications, I'd be mad not to do it for a year, get some money saved up and do Uni in 2011.If I don't get this job, I'll piss off in September to Salford and go part time at my current satanic mill/call centre.
