CMS Towers: A Clearout.

Hallo chaps.

I have (hopefully) bought a house. While the new house has a three car drive and a decent sized garage, it is also in a cul-de-sac with very limited on street parking.

This will require a bit of a clearout.

Currently I have six Volvos and a Kia Pride. Ideally this needs to be whittled down to three Volvos. One of the Volvos is a spares donor so will be scrapped after parts recovery.

This leaves...

1) 1999 Kia Pride 1.3SX of SHITEFEST WALES ROFFLE FAME. I will regret disposing of this but needs must. 65k ish on the clock, good tyres, MOT just expired and has barely moved since it's last test. It's dry inside and is surprisingly ace.

2) 1996 Volvo 850S 2.5-10v auto saloon. 90k ish on the clock, cambelt done about 15k ago, usual rotten front wings, offside front inner wing isn't pretty. Silver with blue interior, test til October.

3) 2001 Volvo S60 T5 SE auto. Really not shit in any way. Aircon pump is a bit noisy, one tiny bit of corrosion on the bootlid, remote boot release doesn't work. Piles of service history, cambelt done by a Volvo specialist in July. 86k on the clock, all kit working including the car phone, test til April IIRC. Red with black leather.

Issues being I don't know what they're worth, if at all. The S60 is probably the only one worth moving on but if anyone fancies anything gimme a shout. Need to sort out more pictures, but here is a starter for ten.

Pride reroffle? Would be up for a couple of tickets. Shame the test has run out though...

Was just going to say a re roffle at Scottish shitefest! If it'll whizz through the test just add that to the ticket price

Posted

Or a roffle just before shitefest, then someone could probably drive it south if needed, and could fly/train/hitch hike up so they haven't got their car. Would mean hanging on to it though I guess

The little Kia has always rubbed me up the right way. I'd defo be interested in it but unfortunately I'm mega hyper astro skint 'til the end of the month.

I miss my pride muchly, would have some tickets but couldn't buy it outright.

S60 looks lovely too.

Posted

Would definitely have Kia roffle tickets - got a starlet shaped hole in my life

850 looks ace ! It's a shame they're as worthless as 700/900 series were five years ago.

Posted

I like to guess the value of cars. I don't always get it right. I would have said, autoshite prices...

Kia £200

850 £400

S60 £1000

Am I anywhere near?

Unfortunately I am not in a position to buy as I need to downsize.

Buy buy buy. Five years from now it'll be "Volvo 850 for sale: Last of the square Volvo's!"

The T5s are on the way up, the rest will follow in due course.

Speaking of which, the S60 is winking at me suggestively.

I can verify it's a cracking car.

Load of shit.

All cars of the earth fall neatly into one of three catagories:

1) Cheap.

2) £400

3) Too Expensive.

Which is EGGSLACKLY how these three fall in order.

90% of the £400 fodder you see are old nails. Spend double and you've a chance of seeing a few years out of it. Theres exceptions I grant you.

Wouldn't have said a grand was that out the way for the Volvo with how tidy it is.

Being honest I think the prices mentioned are fair. So a s60 t5? . Is it fast mister? Looks very nice.

I'd buy roffle tickets for the 850 or the S60....

Cor. That 850.

Solution:

1. Sell Kia at giveaway price on here/RR/other 'niche' interest website

2. Roffle 850

3. Sell S60 via conventional channels for CASHMONEZ as it's shiny and new

The 850 looks grand ont' newer wheels, despite being silver.

I bought a similar one to break, it cost me £400.

I think I still have a good pair of front wings knocking about, free to the lucky new owner. Sadly they're the same colour as the S60, so a PITA to re-spray.

Yes, they are fast.  They also drink like a fish and have a turning circle that would embarrass most cargo ships, but they are fast.  Very fast.  They sound nice too.

850 is very interesting but no money at the moment. Would go for a roffle mind.

Congrats on the house purchase Mr Campbell.

Im unfortunately too skint to buy any outright, but if a roffle was on the cards id buy a few tickets as this is one roffle I would be able to enter not wondering how the fuck I was going to get 400 miles away to pick up if I won, given how close proximity you are.

What are you keeping, just the L reg 850 and the 2 bricks?

I reckon £950 on the S60 wouldn't be unfair; they're 260bhp and it goes rather well. Also it's not rotten where S60s rot, it's low mileage etc. I may get some better pics this week if I get a minute to myself.

The 850 is a bit of a sore one. It's gonna need a wee smidge of welding but it is bob on mechanically. Sensible head says break it 'cos it's replacement is a higher mileage 850 but I'm loathe to do it.

One of the rear brakes is sticking on the Kia, probably through lack of use. It's most likely scrap value as it sits with no test though last year it did have welding (a plate about 2in x 2in on the drivers floorpan).

L-reg 850GLT went to Aldo135; will be keeping the 740 Turbo, the Council Estate and the 850TDi wagon as a daily.

Oh man - that s60 looks ace - is it as good as it looks Andy? That would be a great daily as i am about to hit the mileage ceiling on the SLK classic policy! Of course I’m on a strict one out one in policy now, so blocked unless anyone fancies a Montego!

850's are great, I've seen that silver one close up and it has the potential to be a cracker. Congratulations with the new house Andy!
