hpi_matrix Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Can anyone name some cars which came with cylinder type air filters, like this: Land Rover Discovery 200Tdi Peugeot 205 GTi
warninglight Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Not perfectly cylindrical, but diesel Rover 75/MG ZT and TD4 Freelander all used this one...
hpi_matrix Posted January 9, 2018 Author Posted January 9, 2018 Hmmm maybe I should I have mentioned I want to buy one, so common cars would be helpful!
dozeydustman Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Talbot samba, horizon, alpine, solaraPug 104 & 205 - certainly the X series engine 205's did. Ford 3600 tractor.
3VOM Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Talbot Express/Citroen/Renault/Peugeot 2.0 petrol as used in motorhomes. Could be a possible as it is restrictive on that engine and sometimes gets replaced.
Zelandeth Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Skoda Estelle. Saab 900 (pre-GM)...and I've actually got one new in the box in the garage. I accidentally bought the one for the 16v rather than 8v... Yours for postage if it's any good! I'm fed of knocking it off the shelf and it'll otherwise end up in the bin probably.
gm Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 mk2 Honda CR-V has a cylindrical filter in a square(ish) box if at all relevant ?

Zelandeth Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Does it look like this: Close, bit deeper I think. Reckon that's one from a carb model. Can grab a photo/dimensions tomorrow morning if you like. It was accidentally bought for a normally aspirated 16v injection model (1989), mine is the 8v version with the Bosch K-Jetronic system on. Shorter fatter filter.
mitsisigma01 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Enter "cylindrical air filter element " into Google, hundreds to choose from , match up the dimensions , find the fitment list , search ebay for the commonest , simples ish ! Some dyson , vax and Panasonic hoovers did as well !
MorrisItalSLX Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Jaguar XJ6 Series 3 Pictured bottom right
mitsisigma01 Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Give us a clue ! what do you want it to fit on ? .... pshome 1
tooSavvy Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 SAAB 9k... Below the radiator! https://goo.gl/images/LcVCW4 TS
hpi_matrix Posted January 10, 2018 Author Posted January 10, 2018 Give us a clue ! what do you want it to fit on ? .... Land Rover Discovery. I want to fit a Snorkel, but the ones advertised on the market seem to involve moving the airbox about and re-drilling it to move the intake to the side, it doesnt help that mine also has an AFM and ABS. Seems much easier to buy an airbox with an output on top and intake on the side.

Does it have a way to connect a pipe at the top?
nacho man Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I pretty sure 9-5's have them as do early 172 Clio's both pretty common in the scrappers.
Supernaut Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Peugeot 306 XUD. Cylindrical air filter housing down behind the front bumper.
MorrisItalSLX Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I think the best option for you is to head down the the scrappers and have a good rummage.
hpi_matrix Posted January 10, 2018 Author Posted January 10, 2018 I think the best option for you is to head down the the scrappers and have a good rummage. I'd love to do that, but scrappers a few and fair between nowadays, especially ones that let your rummage. Unless anyone knows a good one near Braintree, Essex?
