When faced with the question "you love that car more than you love me" can I strongly recommend that you do not pause to think about it :)

Re: SWMBO support in things automotive.

After coming home with a selection of pre-cut wood blocks (for my DIY car ramps) SWM left me to it, with jigsaw & hammer/nails, just appearing occasionally at the window to ensure I hadn't lopped off a finger, then ultimately with a coffee and supportive words like "mmmm, I seeeeeeeee".

Haven't yet received the deposit, but I think I've got a buyer for the Dyane. Which is nice.

Found in my parents loft. This will take my mind off Mondeo matters!

The joints are utterly shagged and both boots were ruined like that

Advisories were for play in them

You were lucky......

When I were a lad Lego was just bricks and bases......maybe the odd wheel.

I remember the technic stuff coming out........always thought it went against the whole 'use your imagination' ethos of Lego. Meccano did similar

When I were a lad it were actual bricks and we had to imagine the colours.

Yeah, Lego isn't something I find I grow out of...

Best thing is if you buy carefully you can make good money on them! I have an unbuilt crane sealed up in a box in the attic. I should double my money in a couple of years...

I really ought to stop colouring in the Y letter on my Civic's numberplate with a Sharpie and just replace it! (I guess that probably is a trait of an autoshiter?)

Kinda like that plate though - its dealer marked as Honda UK Manufacturing (first owner was a Honda employee and factory did the PDI) and I don't think they would really be interested in making a replacement for me!

If those dirt cheap ones disappear, I usually always use eBay seller "nenpp" - buy a couple of sets a month for about £12 a pair delivered with fixings and they're spot on

One of the office's I work at in Scotland has a funny setup. There are about 100 staff and you have to buy enough butty's/rolls or cakes for everyone on your birthday, it's mandatory apparently   Our office is right next to the Kitchen and when an email goes out saying it's their birthday help yourselves to x and y there is literally a stampede!

I thought buying the cakes on your birthday was a work given?

I have just paid an exorbitant amount for an ancient radio/cassette/autochanger thing that I have never seen, and only have the blokes word that it works. I will feel silly if I have spunked a load of dosh on another pig in a poke! It's coming from America as well so the chances of a refund are.... slim.

I like to live dangerously!

I've heard before of a tidy sum made on a Star Wars set.

Last night I dreamt I bought a light blue insect-infested Seat Marbella for £50 (and was very happy...)

THIS FUCKING PLACE.....

I dreamed that we did shitefest but 4 in a bed style. 320_touring went first and we all stayed at his, then moved onto Sealtainn's new bulgarian pad, I woke up late and everyone had left and was already there, so I drove over on my own

This morning on the way to work I followed a late (S plate) Rover 800 Vitesse in Not Quite Gold and it made me very happy.

It turned into the Kings Norton industrial estate

A couple of weeks ago in Warwick I watched a line of new jags in black/white dazzle stickers on a test followed by an early Rover 200 coupe. I yelped in joy at seeing the Rover.

Somebody please help me before I buy a car off Lord Sterling.

Finding someone to do the tracking on my 92 scirocco is turning out to be a frigging pain in the arse, "not on the system mate" seem's to be the general response.

I keep a 4' length of the Renault 6's old exhaust pipe in the shed for that very purpose.

I kept the alloy tube (the hot fuser in a laser printer - has a long thin light bulb runs through it) out of a scrapper for wheelnut action.... Nice handy diameter for comfort + does the job ;)

That odd ritual is also practiced here in NZ

There are several reasons why I don't mention my birthday at work ... having to buy cakes for people I don't like is one of them.

I always tell people it's my birthday at work.

What I don't tell them is that I book it as holiday every year, so instead of cakes they get voicemail and my out of office email thing.

Said goodbye to our ERF rigid this morning  :-( off to Gloucestershire for a retirement life moving a steam engine. Not getting used enough to justify the 6 weekly exams and the £650-odd road tax. No more hummin' Cummins and Jake braking for me, though at least the artic is still a manual 'box.

Are you calling at a solicitors on the way back?  It would be sad to lose half share to your (ex?) wife.  On the other hand......
