How do you find the welder?? it seemed to have good reviews ... I have never used a self blackening mask but having had a few incidences of arc eye in my youf I thought it was a good investment....

I've got one of those Wolf welders too - looks very similar to that except mine is red.  I'm hardly an expert but it seems pretty good for a hobby welder.

Had a great drive to work this morning and spent my lunchtime just looking at it ha ha - I wonder if these will come down in price to that of the Escort XR3's etc before they went back up in price?

If they do, I recommend you try one. It's ace to drive and does have quite an abrupt power delivery which is grin inducing. So much trouble finding a good one though - I looked at some proper wrecks before finding this one. Either bodywork issues or thrashed engines (or in one case - both!).

Stage 1 remap booked for the end of the month and I'm speaking to DMB graphics to get black side stripes to replace the red ones currently on.

It torque steers like a bitch when you plant it though!

Must not spend too much money. He says...

For sale post coming soon to shred the fleet. I will keep the Vectra as a cheap daily runabout and 2 of th others to 'concentrate' on. What's going and what's staying hasn't been decided yet though so if anybody wants to prize anything out of my hands just let me know!

/\ there great mate had one with the mountune?? map i think. The torque steer with the map on was horrendous, it drove better standard i felt. I so would have one if they are cheaper. He sold his a few years back. There us a scabby 07 one that goes about near me.

I must admit I am wondering what impact on driveability an increase in power might have - I will be using Motorsport Developments in Blackpool as I have history with them and they are claiming 275bhp for Stage 1, 290bhp for Stage 2 and 310bhp for Stage 3. I'm just wondering how much of a pig Stage 3 would be to use!

There are some about kicking out around 400bhp allegedly with further tweaks. Probably 400bhp diverting the car straight into a ditch when you plant it!

Trying to remember what my mates had, think it was around the 290. I found the torque steer really bad but i only drove it once for 15 mins or so not daily.

The wanali or something tyres he had on it maybe didnt help the issue.

Years ago the rule of thumb with FWD cars was anything over 200 BHP was a waste of time. I suppose chassis technology has improved but even so 250 BHP must be exploring the extremes of drivability? 400 BHP sheesh... Torque Steer Central

Stop acting like a woose and skip straight to stage three,

Nice car by the way.

Not used - or started - since last autumn.

A charge of the battery and it started straight away.

Dent in rear wing is now history. Very nice man (who's name I have forgotten already 'cos moron!) spent a few minutes in the freezing cold working his magic. Bloody good he is, was working on a new Maserati when I got there!

I have got his card and he will come to me in future.

Lol.....

When I find a good mechanic/body guy I go to them....

Nice little chap, forget his name...

The joys of owning a Bentley..

Supposed to be heading to Redditch on Weds for an appointment but I'm unsure whether to postpone it, take the bus or risk driving there.

Well, I took the Sterling to Redditch and made it back without so much as a small hiccup and tiny amount of water dropping out from rad. Journey also included a detour into Chaddesley Corbett, some small historic village because I like small villages and looking at them.

Next challenge is going into Birmingham on Friday. That'll be fun :|

Did a crash. No injuries. Scary shizz, though. Xantia is going to the big scrapyard in the sky

Scary scary and shame to hear the Xantia is no more as a result.  At least you're safe and sound.

Crikey! What happened there?

Shame the cars dead but at least no ones hurt.

My Cadillac STS was putting 305bhp through the front wheels, and that was OK.  Mind you, it did weigh about 3 tonnes.  On the flip side, years ago I had a B-plate Saab 99 with a 9000 Turbo engine fitted - 185bhp through the front wheels of a 1960s-designed family saloon was more than enough...

Bad luck Barrett.  That road does look rather slippery.  Glad nobody was hurt (apart from the Citroën) - would imagine it was a bit of a shock.

Not helping with that effort but I think you can get a Quaife differential for these that may tame the torque steer...

Or you could just MTFU and wind on 1/4 lock and get on with it;)

Getting married in approximately 13 hours time.

Shit me that came up quick!

Volvo wedding car? (Me and Mrs H did, - her uncle's 740 estate).

Not been terribly well the last week or so, had a fall outside (tripped on a step, ripped the sole clean out of my shoe, skinned all my toes/ball of foot, smacked my left wrist and skinned it [i was more worried about my watch!] and fucked up my semi-dead left leg) and since, I have been 'struggling'.

I was massively tired this morning after about an hours sleep and HATED driving the Bentley! It felt awful: far to hard/harsh at the front and I was seriously wishing I had the Honda back!

It was only much later (after many, many pain killers and a few hours sleep) that I realised the roads I had been forced down (road closure/road works/detours - utter nightmare) were the most unkempt, potholed, broken surfaced shit I have EVER driven on!

This part of Torquay is very posh (except my bit which is a comparative slum) and the roads have always been bad, in fact a standing joke that the roads are so bad 'cos everyone in their Rollers don't notice' but they have gotten soooooo much worse. Any road off the main drags (which are appalling) just seems to have fallen apart! Honestly, the tarmac is just like crazy paving in places.

Amazing how being tired can ruin your perceptions!

Should have been... Dave Fowler's 740 is many times less fucked than mine and was supposed to be the bridal car but he's on a course.

The bridal car is staying in the family - Adrian 2345's £150 Honda Legend :)

At least it's a seat and we can use the car again.

The catch at the top of the seat to make it tip has been pulled off but the bottom bit has also come off

Spent ages trying to get that hook in to the tiny hole but no chance just won't go, so my son will just have to step over
