Requested by step dad to collect a medal case from an old chap in Brownhills - spent a fine hour looking at his fine collection of 1-18th scale Jags and Bentley's etc..

wall to ceiling cases filled with em.... I had serious awe, thought about taking pics but I imagine he would have thought I was just clocking his gaffe so I relented.

But he did say he would call me as he has a attic full of diecast and needs to thin it all out, so hopefully me gonna get a heap of quality models - although Ive a room full I need to shift, ahem...

Or a diesel P38 Range Rover.

I stalled the ZX once, wasnt paying much attention and forgot I was in 3rd, pulled the clutch up as quick as I would in 1st... I bloody knew about it though as the car vibrated and rattled to an undignified stop, then because I need to wait for the glowplug light to go out even if its hot or it wont start I looked like a nobber for 10 seconds...

Pulls away in 3rd ok but one needs to be a bit slow with the clutch for it to be smooth

TDCi Transits cut out at the slightest hint of engine labouring, I think it's programmed into them in an attempt to preserve the DMF. You learn to listen for the relay clicking after the first time it leaves you stranded in the middle of a busy roundabout.

MOT = YaY ;)

£85 for timing belt/w.pump kit fitted. Just labour, my parts*.
Not bad quote??

*search throws up Pump/Idler/Belt around £70

Drove a Tesla Model 85 yesterday. If electric is the way to go, which I kinda doubt, then it's not a bad way to do things. Very very quick, 0-60 in under 4 sec, 140 mph top whack and an alleged range of 340 miles when driven by a nun with a Mogadon habit. Very quiet, comfy, cleverly designed inside, and instant torque that diesel drivers simply won't be able to comprehend.

£55k is too much, but if they drop over the next couple of years to about the price of a 5 series I think there'll be a lot of these about.

Quickest thing I've driven for a couple of years, probably quietest car I've ever tried. Tyre noise (21" wheels!) Is noticeable but only because it's the only noise in it.

Best bit is the very strange way it accelerates damn hard with no increase in noise or pauses for gear changes, thing just pulls and keeps getting faster. Also amusing is the way that it doesn't draw any attention to itself at full throttle.

Sold all 3 of my French mopeds for a profit !!!!. That must be a first for me bringing stuff back from France most ends up as a major loss. My 204 diesel is being collected on Friday and hopefully I can get a deal in place for a Monet Goyon Starlett to come back with it as well fingers crossed.

You are correct , they cut at 400rpm iirc

It seems to be 650rpm on this one. Maybe they increased it, I never had a problem on the 07 plater I had before.

Today, I am mostly being reminded that the Nippa is ridiculously tiny. I could fit two in this parking space.

Replaced The Saab's front brake pads today, as they were perilously worn. Once I'd obtained a new 7mm brake caliper key from Halfords (I mislaid my old one), the job was nice and easy. Cheap as well, due to the Saab 9-5 using OMGVECTRA brakes:

EDIT: Had to remove the wheels again in order to properly locate the springy wire things on the calipers, which I realised about half an hour ago I'd fitted incorrectly and were close to fouling the wheels, which would no doubt have caused big problems the next time I drove the car.

Got in the Princess and fired it up for the first time in a while.  Brakes had stuck on a little bit so trundled about the yard to sort that.  Idling was a little lumpy, cured by tightening up the distributor bolts so it wasn't self-adjusting to whatever it fancied.  It felt like a really old car after having spent the last year driving more modern things but not in a bad way.  Was a little bit worried I might have fallen out of love with it since getting the Rover, thankfully I haven't, it's still as satisfying a place to be as ever.

Finally got some replacement vinyl seats for the Amazon (in the correct colour too).

It's a bit beat up but drives like new. Can't remember the last time I saw a two door one of these.

Verdict: Approved.

I really like that, but that dash must be distracting to live with, especially at night. I remember being impressed with the sheer speed the Nissan Leaf i drove accelerated so christ knows what that must feel like.

Sold the Iveco Daily just now.

New owner a credit to Ebay, top buyer, will use again ect ect

Arrived when he said he would, had a good look around and asked sensible questions

Got pretty close to the asking price when I threw in a towbar to fit

Strange thing though is we had it up for sale 3-4 wks ago and didn't get a sniff.Had a couple of offers for half the asking price of course, but nothing more than that

Relisted it Monday night and we've been beating them back with a shitty stick!

More money about at the beginning of the month?

Whatever,shopping time now

I always try and put my dysons on facebook around the end/beginning of the month. People get their dole money then, they just dont shift during the middle of the month, especially a 5 weeker like last month

Since the guy clicked buy it now on eBay, I have a four serious enquiries where as before the last week just idiots.

This might give you an idea - my time with a slightly less powerful one.

Failing that, Kryten suffers proper speed-induced tourettes in this properly quick one.

Any car that's got an insane mode is okay by me

A Tesla Model S remains about the only current production car I really, really want to try out.  I saw loads around Alesund, rather a well-off area if the boats in the harbour are anything to go by, and it was rather eery walking past one as it pulled away easily on a very steep hill in almost complete silence.

When selling cars I always try to aim for around the end/start of the month, if your selling a Ã‚£700 car it makes a difference if folk have been just been paid.

I read that Tesla have upgraded the twin motor one to have a Ludicrous Speed mode.   Any company that references Spaceballs can't be all bad surely?

There's also a mode so you can change the digital display so the car shows as james bonds submarine Lotus Esprit on the interface.

Total car check says it's a Jaguar, 'model unknown', 3000cc, white :)

Looking at pictures of the back of modern jags, it's an XE. I have seen it about (Warwick) a few times before, but never so closely.

3000cc in an XE is their 340hp supercharged petrol motor, nice

I found it odd that a non-standard car is still in use after 12 months. What are they testing in it?

Posted

Yeah, there's a new Jag model coming in to fit under the XF (new Xtype replacement?).

As it's a test model there's nothing to say it's not been 14 plated to confuse, either that or it was built a while ago  and it took a while to be put together as a car.

Tweet that photo to Auto Express or equivalent, they might retweet it or something.

Spookily I was behind this on the M69 linear carpark today....
