Does anybody want this?

T2eC16VHJFoE9nh6oVnBQVjKL-t_12_zps7e15bc

It's a '99 Micra 1.0 'Inspiration' model. Done 108k (I think). Bad news first, it's failed it's M.o.T on a rusty crossmember, cracked windscreen and a balljoint and brake pipe. Been quoted stupid money to fix it so bought a ALL VOXHAULZ R SHIT MOBILE which worked out near enough the same price as fixing it.

M.o.T is until Friday and tax until end of the month - I'd rather have it trailered away as I don't want any legal hassle. How does £150 sound? Engine is very very good indeed so it does deserve saving before it goes to the bridge.

I have discovered a new Vauxhall fault:

SVS (Saturday Vectra Syndrome) as it drive fine then wouldn't effing start again. That's the third time it's done it and it's always been a Saturday and (I think) seems to happen after topping up with fuel then a short journey or two. Got the FCR on it which helpfully* threw up sod all actual faults, so I'll just have to deal with it, unless the MOT means it takes care of itself via the medium of mass capital expenditure.

I hope not as I like its economy, room and cruise control plus (sad fucker that I am) I like the way it drives.

I to have discovered a new vauxhall fault

A Lambda sensor.

All vauxcox are shite all moderns are shite

As i mentioned before mate if its the same vectra? Ours did it and when i serviced it i replaced fuel filter. Yours is a diesel though? Me and the wife both love the comfort of the car. Ours is a 1.8 petrol so slightly underpowered but still economical and the cruise control in ours can be a bit intermittent. Think buttons on stalk are knackered

Deal agreed, I am buying a car hopefully this evening if the bloke gets home from work before dark.

Not as interesting as I was hoping for (a Rover 75) but this standard 1998 BMW (E36) 318is Coupe really does seem a well looked after gem with stacks of history and regularly serviced from new with FSH, owned by the same family for a number of years. The only issue I can see is some misting in the headlights which is an easy peasy fix as ive had one of these before.  :-)

Cheers, Bub, it's the 1.9 CDTi 120 brake I think. I'll do the fuel filter, thanks for the tip.

Billy, if the fuel filter is like on the older 2.0 and 2.2 models you need a special pump thing to prime the diesel filter (like the bulb thing on PSA vehicles).

I have one you can have if required.

318is Coupe collected. Never seen a service history file quite like this one. This is my first 4 pot BMW and its surprisingly silky smooth, a nice drive I just wish the journey home was longer this evening.

Any journey can be made longer if you really want it to, I once drove from Bolsover to Mastin Moor via Sheffield just because I was enjoying the car I was in.

Pah, bloody lightweights. When I'm enjoying a drive I often take the long route home from Ellesmere Port and go 2.1 miles further than the usual journey.

I must admit I got home and was tempted to go back out again, but its been a manic day working after 2 weeks off and trying to get this car bought and collected.

My uncle has a 55 plate vectra and he had a starting issue with his. No Eml for first few times but when it did light up it read as egr. He took it off and cleaned everything and its been fine since. His is a 120 bhp elite cdti. Hope this helps corsaviour

I think Old Man is intending to fibreglass bodge the rear arches on his Civic.

He recently received a Black and Decker dremel with some assorted discs and wheels from a reward points scheme he's in. (He earns the points for staying in Ramada hotels pretty often - on business, and he's not the one paying. Cheapskate, but I can't complain - gave me a £50 Amazon voucher and an SD card).

I think he got bored on the weekend and broke out the wire wheel, as he came to me today and asked me to buy him some fibreglass netting for a fiver from eBay, because 'the stuff they give you in Halfords is rubbish'. We don't have a welder - the old man works in rivets and bodgery - he's an aviation man.

He goes more giffer every day, but at 66 it's no surprise

Hmm, been offered a bloody cheap XK8 convertible with issues (no MOT, no tax, limp mode, dash display saying gearbox bollocksed) but trying to talk myself out of it.  Looking on the web I might strike lucky as it seems a duff battery can be the cause of the problem, and I reckon the car would probably do two large as it stands, but it's a risk I'm not sure I can afford to take at the moment.

'Fixing' some rot on your car with fibreglass BECAUSE you have recently acquired a free dremel paid for with Tiger Tokens is the absolute definition of giffership.

These are well known for spacking their gearboxes and costing $$$ to fix

October' C&SC just dropped on the mat, complete with Credit Suisse review of the old car market . Predictably it waffles on about what bargains £70,000 Maserati Mexicos and Mistrals are, and how we should all rush out and buy one.

But,it does raise one interesting point , namely American Range Rovers. Most went to California and even a Rangie would struggle to rust there, they only started selling them in '91 but apparently nobody wants them out there and $2,500 will buy the best. Fly to LA,buy RR,drive to NY, hide in boot in container (don't worry Trigger can let you out) drive home WCPGW?

Could be more to it than just running issue's i.e. whats needed for an MOT? Its maybe failed one and someone hasn't wanted to dig deep for the required work. I recks this would end up costing you three times more than you estimate, atleast!!  And its a risk you might not be able to afford? Defo walk away.

Apart from wiper blades and bulbs nothing on these is going to be cheap to fix. (me thinks)

Scrubbed up pretty good and it's dead fancy with its fan oven and digital clock and whatnot.  Thanks to AlabamaShrimp and family for letting us have it instead of the local tip.  Everything works, the fan was a bit noisy initially but has quietened down with use and the only thing we had to replace was the gas hose which had a broken plastic nubbin meaning the gas valve wouldn't open and supply the cooker.

Recently we also got a washing machine and a dryer when the unit's regular scrapman appeared with them and jokingly asked if we need a working pair.  We did, and we needed him to take away what little was left of the orange Princess and so a deal was struck.  Just got to test them both properly.  Our current washing machine is completely dead, it would cost a lot more to repair it than to replace it because it's broken some sort of serious electrical component that's ££££s to fix/replace.

Picked this little oil burner up last night. Apart from having to get a taxi as my first train waa late, it was uneventful, so I'm not bothering with a collection thread. Initial impressions are yhat with a bit of fixing, it'll make a decent winter hack. More pics may follow. If I can be arsed.

I can assure you that Rangies are in high demand in Cali and there are many folk on the rangie boards from there. I think emissions might have something to do with the articles opinion.

A while ago I found leboncoin a good place to look for 2 door Rangies as they sold them over there later than in UK.

Popping over to France for a 2-door one is still on my to do list, and then A-framing something behind it back as well

Yay it lives!! Think that might just be cleaner that it's even been before!

Glad it's all working OK and don't forget to give me first refusal when you get rid :-)

Get rid?  If this thing makes good of my sponge cakes as it does of Mike's cottage pie I'm keeping it FOREVER.

Lol tbh if we hadn't of got a new kitchen with a free* cooker we wouldn't have got rid

my Kia failed it's MOT

I knew the wipers didn't have long left but didn't think they were bad enough to fail an MOT on, didn't have a clue about the bulb. It's got 4 advisories though, one for each corner, I was planning on changing the tyres before the OMGSNOWKHAOS so that's not a big deal either.
