If they've been looked after and the mileage isn't too high they'll do a bit better than that range-wise, at least with the heater off - I'd expect to get 50-60 miles in the summer.  The batteries are cooled so they don't shed range as much as an old Nissan Leaf.  It's a 16 kW/h battery and I'd expect to do well over 4 miles per kW/h on average, so in theory that's at least 64 miles, but obviously not 100% of the battery capacity is usable.

Obviously using the heater will kill the range, but that can be mitigated by a combination of pre-heating while it's still plugged in and using the heated driver's seat.

Just been watching some videos on YouTube of scrapyard visits. Seemingly JT Wades in Winwick has a plethora of old cars. Is this still a place you can walk in and pick bits? If so, any shiters fancy going there soon?

The hilarity* continues.

The garage confirmed that the car is indeed a total loss, the paperwork has been passed to the insurer and they definitely haven't carried out any repairs.

Then a short while ago I received a text from the first garage that had been nominated to repair the car (Autodoc) saying that they hadn't received the photos of the damage (which I sent them on 29th January) and they were unable to proceed with my claim until they got them.

Meanwhile I've heard absolutely nowt from the insurer.

It really is a bit of a clusterfuck.

And now I've had a text from the management company asking me to fill out a survey rating their service. 🤣

BeamNG is great fun, if you haven't downloaded it already.
Furthermore, someone has made a Dacia Sandero mod for it with (checks notes) 1358 variations.
Here I have recreated the courtesy car from Express Autocare in Peterborough, down to Access spec and number plates (I need to make the door handles black).
I'm handbraking it round one of the hairpins on Nanamagari Rain downhill, a track that was converted from Assetto Corsa (and has also featured in Initial D Fifth Stage).

Got the Saab back from the garage and I hadn't appreciated how annoying that rattling caliper was now that it's gone. No more weird noises from the ball joint now that's replaced too. Super work.

I replaced the air filter which I knew lived under the OSF bumper and could only be extracted from below. A bit annoying but an easy enough job. One of the T25 Torx is obscured by the bumper though which is daft but not too bad to get to.

BMW is now sorned and I've decided just to replace the ICV and both o2 sensors once I get a new job (I'm up to 20 plus applications now with no success at all) and then I'll probably sell it. I'll make sure it's running well first though so I can ask for it's full value. I think I'll just brave the general public.

I'm likely in the market for something like a diesel Audi or Saab Convertible  ULEZ isn't important as I have the 9-5 😀

Are we placing bets on when they ask you where the car is? 😁

Got the 525d back today, and it definitely feels like it needed the service.

Amazingly, the garage told me they'd actually managed to get all the work done for less than the invoice quote they sent me, £46 less to be precise. Not much more than 6% of the bill but I still appreciated it. Munich Motor works for anyone interested, which sounded a tad naff but 200 5 star Google reviews speaks for itself.

Downside, it's still too big. But I'm not selling a car I just spent £££ on, so I guess I'm looking for a Panda again.

Something new has arrived in the Omoda corner of the VW dealer.

It's not an Omoda 5. Perhaps it's an Omoda 6?

Edit: it's actually an E5. I think the normal 5 has a more distinctive front, this one just looks a bit generic.

I'll have had the 308 a year in March. Thought I'd preemptively run the details through a comparison site this evening before my renewal comes through.

The lowest quote was £178.

£20 annual tax means that the tax and insurance combined should come in at less than £200.

Well chuffed with that!

What have they done on it, sounds like quite the bill for a service still!

I was browsing my email account, oldest first, and found a few photos of my Reliant taken not long after its return to the road in 2004 (I bought it in 1992).  It still looks the same now.  Must drive it again soon as it's been months, maybe a year since its last outing.

It is but the pleasant owner can be a tad cantankerous and will be absolutely fuming that the bearded prick has publicised  his place and  inevitably other wannabe youtubers will descend on his yard to make copycat " abandoned" videos

Yes.  If and when I sell it,  the history will go with it.  I  did share some details on the old 3 Wheelers .com website many years ago when I was also more active in the Reliant Owners Club (i.e. attendance at National and Branch rallies) but now I tend to be publicity shy - except for occasional posts in this select band of enthusiasts of course (AS) 😀.

Bought myself another Parkside welder on my lunch break, it was only £70 and my last one got me through two NCTs and an MOT so I feel like it's a good investment. They've made them a lot smaller since I bought my first one as well.

FreeLoader - happy days.

Basically rebuild the entire braking system on all four corners, now it stops, steers and goes. Sorted a pile of bushes and a track rod end so it also steers in straight lines (always useful).

A huge pile of advisories remain - four tyres are a must then a couple of days serious wire brushing underneath at the back - it's all surface rust on top of some decent thickness steel so (touching wood) worth spending a bit of time on now to prevent welding later.
@Barry Cade - spot on advice regarding the buggered centre seat belt. MoT guy was quite happy.
I think pulling the plastic off the sill surrounds will also free up a few litres of compost on each side.
The M47 diesel runs very well*, a 0.8 on the smokey failometer at the MoT station. I rather like it but I think it may be getting snaffled by fruit-of-my-wife's-womb as a doggy transportation vehicle.

*bloody O ring on the top of the thermostat housing has started to weep though - looks like a job for Edward Scissorhands.

A man can never have too many welders, l cut down to 3 a while back from 5 by selling a lovely old Oxford arc welder and returning my oxy-acetyle bottles but kept the gear. 👍

That's not what the dash on a £600 car is supposed to look like! Where's mechanical odometer? The ABS light with peeling electrical tape over it?

It has an intermittent emissions fault light but if you just don’t drive it for two days it goes away…

At first glance, I thought why does a stretcher need a rear number plate?
